Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply. We are playing a vital part in accelerating the transition to Net Zero and a carbon neutral energy system - a goal that everyone wants to achieve. Whatever your role, you’ll be playing your part in creating new energy solutions that are great for customers, and great for the environment.

We offer a diverse range of flexible working career opportunities: roles that are stimulating and rewarding, where you can get involved in ground-breaking work. And it’s important to us that we recruit from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds – bringing different perspectives and experiences to our work.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to develop their career in software development in a highly professional team setting, where you can build your experience across core technologies. You can expect to be working with wide range of code to design, build and support a variety of web-based applications. And you’ll be supporting initiatives that are contributing to better energy efficiency, the transition to Net Zero and achieving UK emission targets. You’ll use a variety of SQL scripts to resolve user issues, testing out different approaches and keeping colleagues updated on progress throughout. At the same time you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside the Development team in moving legacy applications into the cloud. You’ll benefit from excellent training and development and you can be assured of a varied and interesting workload.

We are looking for someone who already has some experience of SQL Server, T-SQL, .Net, C# and who already has some experience of debugging. It’s also important that you have some understanding of database concepts. Your technical know-how should be complemented by good all-round communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences. You’ll be able to apply a methodical approach to your work, working through problems and getting the details right to arrive at the right solutions.
