Financial Reporting Accountant (VAT), open to flexibility
It’s an exciting time to join Camden’s Finance service. Following our accreditation as a CIPFA Platinum Employer, we are seeking a number of innovative, highly skilled individuals to contribute to the development and implementation of the Council’s Medium Term Financial Strategy. You will help drive our outcomes-based budgeting approach and deliver the best use of resources for the people of Camden.
We are seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant to support production of the Statement of Accounts, taking responsibility for accurate and timely VAT reporting. You will review and maintain the Scheme of Delegation on an annual basis, ensuring it is fit for purpose while working with other finance teams to improve financial reporting (including bad debt monitoring and lease management).
You will proactively identify areas of weak financial management, risks and pressures, and develop and execute plans to improve those, as well as coordinating the timely production of responses to external audit queries to enable the annual Statement of Accounts to be audited.
To be successful in this role, you will have sound knowledge of financial regulations, statutory financial reporting requirements and financial frameworks in a large organisation – preferably local government.
You will demonstrate excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills, being able to interpret financial data and apply logic and judgement. The ability to build effective and productive working relationships with colleagues inside and outside of the Council and demonstrate personal commitment to resolving problems or issues is essential to the role.
You will have good understanding of providing service delivery improvements, including financial systems and processes within a financial setting.
Camden’s main offices are located in modern, award-winning offices at King’s Cross. You can expect an exceptional range of benefits including discounted access to the onsite leisure facilities with swimming pool, recognition and reward for high performance with progression and pay increases, flexible and agile working hours and access to a leading pension scheme.
Camden is proud to be the country’s first Timewise council and as part of this accreditation, we work to help parents balance work with childcare. This fits in with our aim to be leaders in innovative, flexible and part-time working that allows for different patterns of care and for parents to share childcare responsibilities.
Make it work for you. Make it your Camden.
