About the role
As Construction Skills Tutor, you will design and deliver a range of lessons and courses that our members can enjoy and benefit from. Our courses support members with their confidence and wellbeing, living independently and in gaining employment. As well as formal qualifications, you will run courses on important life skills such as painting and decorating and DIY skills. This may require a blended approach with some in-person teaching in our on-site workshop and some teaching taking place online.
The role is 14 hours a week which will be approximately 10 hours of contact/ teaching time and 4 hours for meetings and planning. There will be some flexibility required in the delivery of the courses.
In working directly with homeless people, you will need to be able to build warm, supportive and professional relationships with them while assessing, supporting and recording their progress. A commitment to continued professional development is expected as is adherence to relevant safeguarding and health and safety policies and procedures.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A qualification in construction from a recognised UK awarding body or equivalent experience.
- Experience of teaching across a range of levels and needs.
- An ability to work with vulnerable adults in a responsive and sensitive manner.
- A commitment to Crisis’ aims and values.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development.
