Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply.

We are playing a vital part in accelerating the transition to Net Zero and a carbon neutral energy system - a goal that everyone wants to achieve. Whatever your role, you’ll be playing your part in creating new energy solutions that are great for customers and the environment.

We offer a diverse range of flexible working career opportunities: roles that are stimulating and rewarding, where you can get involved in ground-breaking work. And it’s important to us that we recruit from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds – bringing different perspectives and experiences to our work.

This is a high-profile role that will see you working with colleagues across Ofgem and with a range of partners across Government Agencies and external partners. You will act as a subject matter expert on Cyber Assurance, and ensure we manage organisational risk effectively, based on a highly developed understanding of key security threats to the organisation and wider government. As the lead security adviser for Ofgem you will play a key role in advising and influencing key changes relating to the organisation’s security posture. You’ll be a key contributor to large scale technology adoption across the organisations and an important part of the government’s professional security community.

It's a role that demands an excellent appreciation of both technical and business operations, as well as a convincing breath of professional expertise that you will have gained through operating at a senior level in cyber security or technology risk management professions. Your experience of cyber security and assurance practices should include: security event monitoring and analytics; security awareness and training; security architecture; and best practices and standards such as NIST and NCSC. You will already have proven leadership and people management skills and you’ll be an excellent communicator – able to analyse, translate and simplify complex information in order to provide appropriate advice and guidance at a strategic level. This is a great chance to lead a growing and developing team and shape an expert security function.

Ofgem is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All employment is decided on the basis of open and fair competition, merit and business need.
