The Opportunity

Deloitte's UK Financial Services Internal Audit Practice provides a full range of high value Internal Audit services to many of the world's leading financial institutions, including Banks, Brokers, Insurers, Investment Managers, Investment & Pension funds, Private Equity businesses and many more.

Our Internal Audit team is aligned to the various service lines and industry teams across Deloitte, and most of our UK Financial Services Internal Audit Management Team have held senior positions in the UK's leading Internal Audit functions. This allows us to combine specialist Internal Audit skills and capabilities with relevant in-depth industry knowledge and experience.  Our team also has access to the full breadth of Deloitte's wider expertise in the UK and on a global basis.

Our core services include the following: 

  • Co-sourced Internal Audit Services (jointly with incumbent client Internal Audit team)
  • Outsourced Internal Audit Services
  • Reviews of the effectiveness of Internal Audit functions (general or targeted)
  • Advice and training on methodology and financial services subject matter  

Role description

We are looking to expand our team by of focused, aspirational and collaborative practitioners, and as such we are offering the opportunity to join as a Manager to support this challenging and rapidly expanding business. Deloitte offers a unique career opportunity in a supportive, challenging and fast-growing environment. 


You will be based in either the Deloitte office in Leeds or Manchester, however travel will be required for client based projects. We work across industry specialisms – our clients are varied, and vary in location. Whilst some clients are London based, we do spend time on site with regional clients. We specify full mobility for our audit roles but we make arrangements respectfully. 


This is a permanent role. We do encourage careful consideration of agile ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients. As a member of our team, reporting to a Senior Manager or Director/ Partner, you will: 

  • Manage client relationships, planning and delivering a range of Internal Audit services
  • Construct and supervise audit teams
  • Drive our continuous improvement in our Internal Audit methodology
  • Participate in development of Deloitte's Internal Audit thought leadership
  • Participate in our marketing and sales campaigns
  • Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution


As a Manager you will have:

  • Experience of working within, or with, the Internal Audit department of a large Financial Services organisation
  • Experience of managing small to medium sized Audit engagements, leading Audit teams and reporting to business management 
  • An Internal Auditor or Accountancy qualification or have the equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of Auditing techniques including Risk assessment, Audit scoping, devising Audit approach, controls testing, substantive Audit testing including sampling techniques
  • Report writing, presentation and interpersonal skills including good written and verbal communications
  • Team leadership skills
  • Management and organisational skills
  • Proven ability to use initiative, be adaptable and apply creative problem solving
