Financial Advisory, Forensic Accounting – Assistant Manager, Open to flexibility

The Opportunity

This is your opportunity to join Deloitte's growing Forensic team. We work with our national Forensic practice and other Deloitte professionals around the world to undertake a wide range of fraud, corruption and regulatory investigations. We also help our clients harness technology to identify and address related challenges in a variety of industries.

You can expect to work on exciting, client-facing projects and be actively involved in growing our business from day one.  The sensitive nature of the data we work with often creates exciting opportunities to work at client sites both at home and abroad, so the desire to travel is a must. Join us and you’ll be joining a growing team of multi-disciplinary and highly motivated investigators.

As the leading company for global forensic and dispute advisory services, we’re constantly sought out by high-profile organisations who need to perform extensive, complex and often urgent investigations into their business operations and data.

Role description

As a newly qualified ACA accountant, you will gain exposure to exciting projects of a highly sensitive nature, working on cases that often gain high levels of media exposure.  Work is varied and no two cases are the same.  In addition, your career and promotional opportunities are vast. Deloitte's Forensic Department is the world's largest global practice, meaning you will get the opportunity to work abroad (particularly within the EU), experiencing varying business and cultural environments.  Being part of a specialist group, but within a global network of member firms, means you will be part of a personalised culture but with the support and benefits of a large organisation.

Here at Deloitte we foster a collaborative culture where talented individuals can produce their best work.  We value innovative thinking, diverse insights and we strive to offer an exceptional level of customer service through our expertise and professionalism.  Deloitte Forensic is a prime example of these qualities, providing specialist advice to companies and lawyers who require detailed investigations to be undertaken or disputes to be resolved.  This means a wide and varied exposure for you to be able to develop and gain further skills in areas such as investigating corporate fraud, money laundering and corruption cases, or in dispute resolution work, whilst working for our globally recognised brand.

Location

You will be based in a Deloitte Manchester office, however travel will be required for client based projects. We work across various industries – our clients are varied, and vary in location.

Hours

Core hours are 37.5 per week. This is a permanent role. We do encourage careful consideration of agile ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients. If this opportunity is interesting as a permanent role with a degree of flexibility please do discuss with us.

Responsibilities

As an Assistant Manager you will be involved in a wide range of projects and asked to:

  • Assist clients to investigate alleged breaches of FCA statutory regulations
  • Prepare analysis work incorporated into expert witness reports to quantify losses
  • Work overseas to investigate allegations of bribery or corruption
  • Assist clients to assess and improve their fraud or anti-money laundering risk management
  • Assist in the drafting of formal reports in the context of expert witness or investigation assignments
  • Work in multi-disciplinary teams, collating and assessing evidence
  • Supervise electronic data review teams
  • Gain experience in planning formal investigation interviews
  • Have the opportunity to work directly with Partners and Directors
  • Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution

Requirements

We need bright people with a novel and sophisticated analytical approach. You will ideally have experience working on projects for external clients or customers and you will enjoy motivating and sharing knowledge with junior team members to further develop their skills.  In return for your continued success, interest and commitment, we will provide you with a variety of work, a comprehensive training program and a structured career path.

Candidates for this role are likely to be recently qualified chartered or certified accountants who are able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent academic credentials
  • A logical and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Strong numeracy skills with the ability to assimilate and analyse data
  • A concise and fluent professional writing style
  • The ability to establish effective working relationships - with a strong client focus
  • Effective time management and the commitment to work to tight deadlines
  • The ability to work as part of a team, capable of assuming different roles
  • Strong commercial acumen and market awareness
  • Ideally a second language - although this is not essential.
