The Opportunity

You will provide support to our nationwide client engagement teams in completing tasks associated with our engagements to support and develop Board’s and organisation governance arrangements. The role will involve day to day liaison with client engagement teams and will encompass oversight and maintenance of the team’s compliance and survey activities.

Role description

As part of Deloitte's drive to grow and continue to develop its Board advisory offering an opportunity exists to join our team as a Manager.

Deloitte's Board Advisory practice advises and supports organisations to develop their leadership capability and strengthen their governance arrangements. Our Board Advisory business is expanding as we increasingly are asked to help organisations to adapt and develop their leadership and governance arrangements to respond to and anticipate risks and opportunities originating from regulatory requirements and beyond.

In light of increasing market demand we are seeking to grow our Board Advisory team and are seeking individuals with the drive, leadership and vision to help deliver our current client portfolio and help us develop this portfolio further.  We are looking for high performing professionals, from industry or practice, with experience in healthcare, nursing, clinical or corporate governance. Successful candidates will work closely with our high-profile clients and Boards across the public and private sector.

You will be based in either the Deloitte Manchester, Leeds or Newcastle office.

  • Extensive liaison with clients both face to face and remotely.
  • Project planning and management to support the Board Advisory Team’s project based work.
  • Working to tight deadlines, often requiring prioritisation of numerous concurrent project deadlines and requirements.
  • Management of more junior members of the team in order to deliver the objectives of projects and to develop the skills of junior members.
  • Preparing and delivering professional reports and recommendations resulting from our work which add value to our clients.
  • Supporting the team in producing proposals for future projects.
  • Business development such as networking both internally across Deloitte’s service lines, and also externally with current and potential future clients.
  • Research and analysis related both to projects and business development.
  • Supporting the team in producing internal management information. 
  • Undertaking client research to support bids and proposals.
  • Assisting in preparing for projects to focus on maintaining and complying with internal compliance requirements.
  • Providing oversight and monitoring of compliance arrangements for projects.
  • Managing diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution


  • Previous experience of project management
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working in a complex environment where good governance is required is essential, however, for the right candidate, experience of working as in a clinical capacity within the health or social care sector would be advantageous
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Proven planning and project management skills
  • Excellent networking and influencing skills
  • The ability to travel to client sites as required by this position
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Previous experience of working with budgets
  • Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and an ability to learn new packages quickly.
  • Diligence, hard work and co-operation to be an effective member of the team.
  • Articulate and able to demonstrate discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure with a flexible approach.
  • Ability to problem solve and think logically.
