Legal Assistant, Part time 3 days/wk

Reports to: General Counsel

Location: London

Department

The Legal team is involved in every significant transaction within the business. The team is responsible for negotiating, drafting and finalising legal documentation and ensuring all legal risks are assessed and dealt with appropriately. No agreements may be concluded without the Legal team sign-off. The department also provide advice and guidance to senior management on all business issues and ensure that business is conducted in a manner that complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Position purpose

Administering the legal department document retention system, assisting solicitors in preparation and review of contractual documentation and assisting the Compliance Officer with preparation and organisation of compliance documentation.

Main responsibilities

  • Assume primary responsibility for the document retention system
  • Maintenance of administrative systems, including paper and electronic filing
  • Assisting the General Counsel in his role as Compliance Officer
  • Fulfilling any requests for assistance which the solicitors may have, including review of research into legal documentation
  • Assisting Senior Legal Assistant when necessary and deputising in their absence
  • General assistance in all aspects of the Legal Department as required

Experience required

  • Educated to degree level preferred. Law degree desirable but not required.
  • Some legal experience useful. However, not necessary to have legal experience as full training will be provided.

Technical requirements

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Hours of work:

8.30am – 5.30pm, 3 days a week
