Junior Web Developer – London, Open to flexibility

We are an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists offering a broad range of professional services. Through our work, we make a positive difference in the world.

As a junior developer, you will build data rich driven web applications. Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience of building such data rich web applications.

We are seeking an all-rounder with front end (JavaScript) experience and ideally, server side (Node.js) experience join our talented team.

You will be working in a team of developers, data scientists, user experience designers, and you will often collaborate with other parts of the business on projects including, building engineers, transport consultants, geotechnical engineers, urban planners. Digital is a growing part of the Arup business, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about playing a part in shaping the future of the built environment.

Requirements and Skills

Essential Skills

  • Degree qualified
  • JavaScript experience
  • Experience with at least one client side JavaScript framework (i.e Angular)
  • Experience with at least backend JavaScript framework (i.e Express.js)

Desirable Skills

  • Angular and/or React
  • Use of Kanban and project tracking software like JIRA or Trello
  • Full stack application development
  • Test driven development
  • Geospatial experience
  • Interest in data and data visualization
  • D3.js
  • Relational and/or non-relational database experience
