The Role

We are searching for a Programme and Change Support Senior Officer to improve how the organisation manages projects and programmes. The post holder will take a creative approach to strategically deliver effective and sustained improvement, engaging the organisation along the way.

You will support project and programme managers by developing a range of tools and guidance to help them in their roles and proactively identify areas of development and risk. You will complete health checks on the progress of projects and offer guidance to help trouble-shoot any issues.

Alongside this, you will promote a learning culture by training colleagues across the organisation on best practice in project and programme management, whilst leading on the collection and dissemination of good practice in order to shape standards of working.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of working on projects/programmes, as well as training and guiding other staff, even if informally.
  • Knowledge of project planning and delivery in a large organisation, ideally local government/public sector, however this is not essential.
  • A sound understanding of providing service delivery improvements.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills, as well as a pro-active approach to work.
  • The ability to identify and help to resolve risks and issues, as well as working with colleagues at different levels.
  • Confidently interpret data and information, whilst applying logic and judgement to develop a range of tools to support project and programme managers.
  • Formal accreditation (e.g. APM, Prince 2, MSP) would be helpful but not essential.
