The Data team within Group Design & Data, Group Transformation is critical to the success of this by keeping data at the centre of the solutions we deliver.

If you are an ambitious individual who enjoys working on overall strategy as well as detailed data solutions, this could be the right role for you. We are looking for a Head of Data Application -Analytical with the right attitude and experience; whether your experience is in a large Corporation or within a Data Consultancy/ Specialist Data agency.

As Head of Data Applications you will be responsible for leading a team dedicated to managing the ownership of key analytical Group applications. This will include; Enterprise Data Hub (EDH), Single Customer View (SCV) and the Group Data Warehouse (GDW). This will also involve driving the simplification agenda over the next 3 years, with responsibility for associated tools & capability to drive curation and consumption of data across the organisation.

The successful individual will form part of the Senior Leadership team and will be dedicated to ensuring effective risks and controls are in place around our data to protect customers, colleagues and shareholders. They will contribute to the formulation and delivery of strategies, policies and processes to ensure applications and tools are secure, well governed and that appropriate access management controls are maintained.

To thrive in this role you will be a strong influencer of key executive stakeholders and contribute to broader strategic planning. In addition act as a Deputy Product Owner for various elements of the Enterprise Data Capability and business decision-making by providing Insight, Control and Thought Leadership.

Key accountabilities and capabilities of this role will include:

  • Shaping the strategic direction of customer data and associated architecture.
  • Protecting the integrity of customer data during a period of strategic change and improve customer experience through technology adoption.
  • Proactively build and maintain external and internal networks to identify industry best practice to ensure legal, regulatory and professional compliance.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and continued evaluation of medium and long term plans, policies and procedures. Taking appropriate steps to mitigate any risk and embed the data policy & standards governed by the Chief Data Office. Whilst also driving compliance in the context of the wider business, customer, risk, governance and regulatory.
  • Build and lead a strong performing team who adopt and excel using agile delivery methodology. This will be done by role modelling behaviours and developing colleagues through stretching objectives, feedback and coaching whilst demonstrating and embedding our Group Values.
  • You will be a Subject Matter Expert in the management of customer data risk, and have deep knowledge of customer systems and data flows and how they impact customer experience.
  • Hold significant experience of providing steer and direction to strategic Data Change Programmes.
  • Drive a commercial awareness of emerging data technologies and practices.

This role will be based in Bristol with travel to other hub locations including London.
