Global Law Development Manager, Open to flexibility

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for supporting Law practice leadership on the development of the Global Law practice, working closely with Global Law leadership, and also with various business support functions, in order to drive the Global Law growth strategy.

Essential Functions of the Job:

The role involves markets support and business development activities for our existing legal advisory business. It also involves supporting the development and roll out of alternative legal services and driving the use of technology.

Market leadership and growth:

  • Support Law market leaders in go-to-market activities around our services,
  • Identify legal business needs of clients and how we can address them in order to accelerate growth of the legal services business
  • Work with the Law markets leaders to develop markets collaterals
  • Drive Law’s participation in key flagship client events as well as internal events relevant to driving awareness and networking
  • Provide expert go-to-market recommendations to EY Law leadership, and leverage and share best practices from top opportunities across Law practices globally
  • Support cross-service line go-to-market campaigns integrating Law

Developing Legal Services

  • Work closely with the Global Tax business development community to co-develop and implement a business development strategy for EY Law;
  • Manage the Law sales pipeline;
  • Plan and organize business development activities including pursuits, cross-service line accounts work and related activities
  • Share wins and successes across the Law and business development community

Alternative Legal Services

  • Support global law leadership on the development of new business models for delivery of legal services and on the development and implementation of business plans for these services across service lines, sectors and accounts

Technology:

  • Support technology driven transformation of EY Law

High level project management

  • The activities described above require excellent project management skills to coordinate teams across our practices and functions in order to deliver on our goals

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

The individual holding the position will be responsible for enabling leadership to conduct a coordinated and efficient business development approach. 

The position requires project management activities involving numerous teams at EY, including management of milestones and deadlines. Decision making is required for prioritization and definition of steps within accounts work processes.

Supervision Responsibilities:

The individual acts mostly independently upon own judgment as regards the coordination of different tasks or workgroups with the purpose of fulfilling the essential functions defined for this role above.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements: 

  • Excellent understanding of the current legal market
  • Exceptional client relationship skills
  • Excels in having strategic business conversations across a company’s Executive Team. 
  • Excellent analytical skills in evaluating business opportunities for EY Law
  • Excellent project management and communication skills
  • Full understanding of the workflows between EY Law management and support teams
  • Ability to influence across a complex organization
  • Ability to supervise work processes

Management of quality and deadlines of deliverables are mandatory requirements and must exceed average performance. Individual must have very good knowledge of MS Office programs with special regard to Excel and PowerPoint as well as an excellent command on the English language.

Other Requirements: 

  • Ability and willingness to travel is an essential prerequisite.
  • Degree in Law, Marketing or Business Administration or other similarly qualifying education.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in legal or business advisory accounts development and project management.
  • Experience in working at a Big 4 or an international law firms will be a clear asset.
