Application Development Services Engineer, Open to flexibility

At Lloyds Banking Group we've built the UK's largest Digital Bank. We have increased the number of active online banking users to 12.5 million, with mobile users increasing to over 8 million. We invested £750 million in digital between 2012-2014 and have committed a further £1 billion in the three years to the end of 2017 to provide our customers with the opportunity to bank with us how, when and where they want to. We strive daily towards our vision of being the best bank for our customers, and we're well on our way thanks to the efforts of our people and their passion of making a difference.

The Transformation Programme is one of the largest programmes in the Bank and a key vehicle for the Bank to accomplish its vision and become a pioneer in the way digital technologies and experiences service our customers across channels.

Within our Application Development Services team we have a great opportunity for a Teradata Database Administrator. The successful applicant will be working with a number of external partners who undertake environmental support and many other admin tasks for projects.

You'll be interacting with the Project Development team, QA, Service Delivery and Production Support (batch support).

Your accountabilities will include using your knowledge of technical standards such as code control, and industry compliance and continuously improving and advocating best practices and knowledge sharing activities.
Together we make a difference….

Additionally we'll look for you to:

  • Review platform deliverables in scope to support change within agreed timescale (this can apply to both project deliverables e.g. MLPD and change management e.g. AXIS).
  • Review cross-application documentation (including traceability) created by others.
  • Use your extensive knowledge to support the assessment of requirements and their impact on supporting / downstream applications.
  • Use your extensive understanding of the key stakeholders to deliver results (e.g. business, 3rd party supplier) and within Group IT.

What we'll need from you;

The ideal candidate will have specialist knowledge of Teradata V15, IBM Mainframe, JCL, TSO, Datamover, NetBackup, TARA, TMSM and LINUX. However, we would welcome applications from anyone with a strong background in environmental database administration support.
Equally important is a solid IT background with the technical aptitude to adapt to a new technical environment coupled with a real desire to make an impact in a challenging team where a good sense of humour and a willingness to go the extra mile to help your colleagues will reap rewards.
Good stakeholder management skills are essential and the candidate should have a good understanding of the project lifecycle and Retail Banking procedures.
