We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team of purification scientists that work with and support Discovery Medicinal Chemistry teams in Stevenage.

The UK Purification Group is part of Discovery Analytical Sciences, a multidisciplinary team that works with chemists and biologists to progress the discovery phase of small molecule drug development, from identification of biological targets through to selection of pre-clinical candidates. The successful applicant will join the chiral purification team, developing critical analytical and preparative LC and SFC methods for the chiral evaluation and purification of a variety of novel chemical entities across a range of operational scales, as well as troubleshooting sophisticated analytical equipment and providing first-line repairs.

The position requires an individual with strong analytical, technical, reporting and personal skills and a commitment to further personal development.

Basic qualifications:

  • BSc in Chemistry or extensive industrial experience and training
  • Hands-on expertise in a variety of separation strategies to solve analytical and/or purification problems
  • Highly self motivated with good organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment to solve problems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience of chiral HPLC and LC/MS platforms
  • Experience in the use of super critical fluid chromatography
  • Background in associated analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry
  • Ability to develop and implement novel technologies
  • Ability to perform both individually and as part of a team
