Strategic Investment Manager (Community Grants), Job Share 2 days/wk (14.4 hrs)

Hackney is London's most diverse and dynamic borough. Stretching from the edge of the City, to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, it is an area of rapid economic growth, particularly in the tech, media, fashion and other creative industries. Hackney has more green space than any other inner London borough, some of the capital's best schools, and first class transport connections, which combined with excellent local public services and a thriving arts, cultural and retail sector, are fast making it one of London's most popular areas to live, work and visit. Our challenge is to make sure that our borough's economic growth provides benefits for everyone who lives here, and to create opportunities that will transform the lives of local people.

We know that staff are key to our success and we are seeking people with ambition, creativity and commitment to our values to help us achieve the best for the people of Hackney.

The role is in the Voluntary Sector Team which leads on strategic support and relationship management with the sector and manages a £3m+ grant programme. The team is based in Chief Executive’s Directorate, which offer strategic support and delivery to the whole Council.

We are looking for a Strategic Investment Manager to join our team as part of a job share for two days a week (14.4 hours). A post holder is already in place working three days a week in the role. This is an exciting opportunity to lead on all aspects of managing the Grants Programme, working closely with senior managers to achieve the best outcomes from our strategic investment. You will oversee the assessment and award processes, contract management and evaluation and overall performance and financial management. You will also help shape future investment programmes and work with the sector on strategies to attract new funding into the borough.

This role requires a strategic thinker with robust programme and financial management skills and sound experience of grant management or strategic commissioning in order to meet rigorous audit requirements. You will need an eye for detail, political sensitivity and to be an excellent communicator and negotiator. You must be able to work in a very live and dynamic environment, managing an ongoing programme as well as dealing with incoming queries and requests for information and supporting strategic development.

For an informal discussion please contact Claire Witney on 0208 356 3630.
