Creative & Partnerships Lead, Open to flexible working

We are looking for a Creative & Partnerships Lead to join Wellcome’s Public Engagement department. We’re one of the world’s largest charitable foundations, and we want to involve the public in ourmission to improve health for everyone by helping great ideas to thrive.

This role will help us identify the most interesting and important public and social problems for us to act on that fit with our public engagement strategy, finding the best ways for us to make a difference with our resources, and working with the most influential and inspirational partners to help make our work scalable in the UK and internationally.

While a lot of our work focuses on response-mode grant-giving, this role is mostly about helping Wellcome take a more active role shaping and delivering excellent public engagement, and inspiring change.

We’re therefore looking for someone who is an inclusive and creative leader, who wants to deliver scalable and sustainable engagement with Wellcome’s work, and who has excellent networks amongst a range of professions and communities.

We welcome the opportunity to discuss a flexible working pattern for this vacancy.

About the job

To succeed in this role you will:

  • Manage a team of creative & partnerships managers and delivery professionals.

  • Increase the strategic alignment between our department and the rest of the organisation
  • Bring excitement, energy, and vision to the department, alongside a focus on helping us achieve more impact for Wellcome and for our beneficiaries
  • Help evolve our strategy, taking on responsibility for continually improving our work, and creating a supportive and rewarding team environment
  • Combine thinking imaginatively with a focus on scale and sustainability that means we deliver radical change instead of spreading ourselves thinly
  • Need to be someone who's excited for the potential of our work to make a difference, values the diversity of the work we do and who we work with, and wants the responsibility of supporting a team to get the most out of its creative freedom

About you

To be successful, you'll need to have:

  • Experience of creating and managing successful multi-stakeholder partnerships at a national or international level
  • Experience of successfully managing, developing, and guiding a highly-autonomous team
  • Experience of being an 'enabler' of large-scale projects as well as a 'deliverer'
