Group Tax Insurance - Assistant Manager, Open to flexibility

At Lloyds Banking Group, we have a clear purpose; to help Britain prosper and to become the best bank for our customers. What we do makes a difference to families, businesses and communities and we play a central role in building a growing UK economy.

Finance is key to that success by securing and building the financial strength and performance of the Bank and LBG's life assurance business, operates under the Scottish Widows brand.

In this role you would gain exposure to the responsibilities and management of LBG's tax affairs. Providing support to senior managers, you'll ensure that the group fulfils its statutory obligations and maintain working relationships with HMRC.

Given the pace of legislative change, Group Tax is a key function within the Finance community of LBG, handling the group's tax affairs, ensuring that the tax consequences of all transactions are understood and that the group is in full compliance with all of its statutory obligations. Typically, you'll be involved with monthly, quarterly and annual statutory reporting commitments as well as the preparation of Corporation Tax computations and returns for submission to HMRC.

The specialist UK tax rules for life insurers means that this role has a high technical content, including investment and property tax as well as the usual Corporation Tax areas. It involves you working closely with accountants and actuaries within the group's Insurance & Wealth division, as well as colleagues within the wider Finance community.

You'll need to have a process-focused mind-set to participate in project management initiatives, for example coverage of risk management within a SOX/Senior Accounting Officer environment. We'll ask you to focus on opportunities for continuous improvement and process efficiencies too. If you can take a step back, challenge and reflect on the work you've done and suggest ways in which you can potentially improve on what we produce and how we deliver it, hat will be a huge asset.

IDEALLY YOU'LL HAVE THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE :

  • Corporation Tax technical experience and tax accounting knowledge
  • Recognised professional exams (either accountancy related or tax qualifications such as ATT/CIOT)
  • A deep understanding of accounting concepts
  • Strong Excel skills
  • A practical understanding of tax software and processes
  • Previous experience of working for a life assurer or within financial services would be helpful

If you have the skills we're looking for and this sounds like you then we'd like to hear from you. You can look forward to having a role that matters, working in an environment that provides continuous learning and development and a career that's full of opportunity.

Making you feel valued is important so we offer a highly competitive reward package - based on acting responsibly, and demonstrating our values and ethics. In addition to the salary range quoted this role offers an on target discretionary performance-related bonus, 4% of your salary paid to you in flex cash, 28 days holiday (plus bank holidays), life assurance, private medical care, share schemes and contributory pension contributions as well as the option to use your flex cash to pick from a wide range of benefits (which include childcare vouchers, holiday trading, matched learning fund, dental plan, retail vouchers and a range of discounted financial and protection products).

We 're an equal opportunity employer and deeply value diversity within our organisation.
