This is an exciting opportunity to join ViiV Healthcare, Congresses are increasingly our greatest opportunity to demonstrate our IPT priorities at a global level and support with customer interactions across the business.  With the rapid evolution to the virtual and hybrid models as a result of the pandemic, an additional manager level role with expertise in digital delivery is critical to support the Global business, focusing on strategic delivery of Major International Congresses with the Global Congress Director. 

The Global Congress Events Manager – Virtual Events, role is required to ensure a successful ViiV/GSK collaboration in a) delivery of the virtual offering of the most important international HIV conference on the annual calendar: IAS/IAC  and b) additional support in implementing strategy at a regional and LOC level, aiming to successfully deliver ViiV’s presence at external scientific congresses to support brand, disease, business and company priorities.  Through strong partnerships with the Global teams and the Local Operating Companies, the Congress Operations Manager role delivers on ViiV Congress Strategy priorities through one of the most high-profile channels of interactions with customers.

This role has overall responsibility for driving and delivering ViiV’s Global virtual congress presence at high-profile events such as IAS and IAC, with key customers and leading medical experts.  Given the congress events’ high visibility externally it is critical that the presence is executed flawlessly from a business impact and reputation perspective.  Efficiency and expertise is required to manage all of the moving pieces to effectively deliver congresses in a compliant manner in line with ViiV policies.  In addition, the co-ordination of stakeholders across the business is essential and cannot be underestimated, especially when they often have differing viewpoints and priorities.

  • Project lead for ViiV’s virtual presence at IAS and IAC congresses to ensure successful congress delivery by collaborating with a variety of business partners and stakeholders (including Commercial, Multi Channel Excellence, Medical Digital, Tech, ViiV/GSK LOCs, Regulatory, Meetings Centre of Excellence, etc.)
  • Inputs to the strategic planning for Medical, Commercial and Corporate Strategies and is part of the Congress Strategy Team to define congress attendance (i.e. type of exhibit, symposia, etc.) based on the medical, commercial and Corporate Strategies objectives and needs
  • Budget management. Tracks, influences, recommends and challenges appropriate spend of budget across functions delivering on congresses and facilitates corresponding agreement on milestones and deliverables for each congress to achieve optimal congress presence
  • Leads on the collaboration in planning, development and execution of regionally delivered global events in line with all compliance, Standard Operating Procedures (including Scientific Engagement), ViiV standards and LOC standards and identifies / works to resolve any specific challenges / issues with plans.
  • Acts as the recognised expert to GSK/ViiV stakeholders involved in congress activities and leads on a range of activities including – booth design and implementation of ViiV collateral, housing, registration, logistics, organisation of pre-congress briefings and other congress meetings, internal communications, necessary due diligence on third parties, AAR post congress, etc.
  • Manages the relationship with i) third party vendors and agencies to ensure all necessary contracts are negotiated and in place, they are compliant with the relevant code of practice requirements, and they deliver at or above expectations at events; ii) Congress Organisers and Scientific Associations so that ViiV is best positioned for sponsorship and attendance (this includes endorsement of the ViiV ways of working, i.e. HCP engagement, etc.)
  • Ensures Congress Playbook master files are maintained, congress measurements / metrics are completed, and documentation is collected for ViiV Congress Strategy Committee Meetings.
