Senior Consultant/Manager, Sustainable Finance, EMEA Centre for Regulatory Strategy, Risk Advisory

Your Opportunity

We are the Deloitte EMEA Centre for Regulatory Strategy (ECRS).

We help the senior leadership teams at Deloitte’s clients to anticipate, understand and respond to how changes in financial services policy and regulation will affect their business strategies, operating models and legal entity structures.

Our team is based in the UK but we operate across the EMEA region, supported by a network of Deloitte practitioners. We also work closely with our Centres in the US and Asia Pacific.

We realise the value of our insights by strengthening Deloitte's capabilities, raising its profile in the market, and by deepening client relationships. We achieve this by:

  • Developing high-quality and client-relevant regulatory analyses (thought leadership);
  • Monitoring emerging policy and regulatory issues; 
  • Providing targeted support for client projects as subject-matter experts.

We are hiring a Senior Consultant or Manager (depending on the candidate’s experience) to join the ECRS Sustainable Finance team.  Working in the ECRS you will be given responsibility early on in your career, an unparalleled opportunity to develop strategic thinking, and gain a broad view of international, European and national financial services regulation.  You will work with colleagues to provide insight and advice to Deloitte practitioners and to a wide range of our clients on sustainable finance, including senior stakeholders.

Your role

  • Working with colleagues in the ECRS to develop thought leadership on regulatory priorities related to sustainable finance, assisting with the analysis and assessment of the strategic implications of new and emerging regulatory requirements;
  • Helping the ECRS to maintain an overview of relevant developments in the UK and at EU and international levels for the sustainable finance portfolio, including through tracking new policy initiatives, identifying emerging topics and developing expertise in those topics;
  • Working closely and effectively with the ECRS senior management team and stakeholders throughout the UK and European network and beyond and developing relevant contacts with regulators, policymakers and industry;
  • Presenting the analysis and insights to clients;
  • Managing your time to deliver work to agreed deadlines;
  • Ensuring the quality of outputs; and
  • Contributing to cross-team initiatives.

Your Professional Experience

  • Experience in a regulatory environment within the financial services industry, ideally focused on sustainable finance. Previous experience is likely to have been within a bank, insurer, or investment manager, or in a regulatory or advisory role.
  • An understanding of key regulatory and supervisory initiatives in sustainable finance in the UK, EU and internationally;
  • An understanding of strategic challenges and trends in sustainable finance and the financial services industry more generally;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as the ability to process large amounts of information and summarise it effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to liaise and build relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Excellent time and workload management skills, and the ability to work flexibly under pressure;
  • Exceptional presentation and business writing skills;
  • The ability to take a flexible approach to tackle a wide range of tasks including: analytical research, client presentations and report writing, and hands-on involvement in the development of ECRS products

Personal independence
