London Programme Manager, part time
Are you looking for a flexible, part-time job that enables you to have a direct impact on the lives of disadvantaged children? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, innovative culture? Are you at your best when explaining things to others and motivating them to succeed?
In England in 2017, 39% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary school unable to read to the expected standard. Innovations for Learning is a charity focused on using technology to close this literacy gap. We are excited to be launching, from this September, a UK version of an online reading support model - TutorMate - that has been hugely successful in deprived communities in America.
Many children fall behind with reading simply because they lack the opportunity to practice. TutorMate addresses this problem by using a bespoke internet platform to pair volunteer tutors from corporate organisations with struggling Year 1 pupils.
IFL is seeking a highly motivated, proactive London Programme Manager to support teachers to implement TutorMate in schools across Islington, Haringey, Camden and Tower Hamlets, including training teachers and providing them with in-person support. You will ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged pupils is maximised throughout the academic year. You will also be responsible for finding new schools to implement the programme in its second year and beyond.
You will be an excellent communicator who embraces innovation, enjoys problem-solving and is comfortable with technology. With superb organisational skills, you will have a genuine passion for ensuring all children can read.
This role is ideal for someone looking for flexible work from a home base (but with the ability to travel to visit schools frequently), for approximately 10-15 hours per week during school hours, predominantly in term-time.
