EDF Energy is partnering with Inclusivity, the return to work specialists, to launch their 2022 Return to Work programme.

The EDF Return to Work programme offers flexible opportunities for returners with additional support to ease the transition and is part of their commitment to recruit from the widest possible pool of talent, making sure that their workforce is a true reflection of their communities and customers.

Whatever the reason for taking a career break, your unique skills and perspectives not only give EDF a better understanding of customers from all walks of life, but help bring fresh ideas too.

EDF is helping Britain achieve Net Zero by leading the transition to a cleaner, low emission electric future and tackling climate change. They're the UK’s largest producer of low-carbon electricity, meeting around one-fifth of the country’s demand and supplying millions of customers with electricity and gas.

The programme provides six month paid opportunities for Returners and are available on a 4 or 5 day a week basis. These opportunities will allow you to put to use your past career expertise and to bring yourself back up to speed with the current market. You will be paid at the full market rate for the opportunity you accept. During your six month programme you will be provided with 3 one-to-one Coaching sessions as well as pre-commencement training support.

Successful Returners will commence working with EDF in September 2022, although opportunities to commence sooner exist in some areas if this was the preference of the returner.

Whilst there is no guarantee, it is the goal of the programme that you will be able to secure a permanent position at the end of the six months. EDF has offices across the UK and embraces a flexible hybrid working culture. The roles on offer have teams based in either London or Hove so the ability to attend one of these offices on a regular basis is required.

What's the Role?

EDF has four Senior Commercial Analyst opportunities as part of their Returner programme. Each role is slightly different although calls for a similar skillset.

An example role is below.

The Senior Commercial Analyst works across both the Margin Management and Commercial Planning teams enabling EDF’s competitive position in both the residential and SME markets. Through this, you will directly contribute to the delivery of £600m Gross Margin per year. You will deliver high quality analysis and insight leading to clear commercial recommendations and business outcomes such as pricing and margin activities for residential and SME, including fixed contract pricing, price changes for standard variable tariffs and pricing for SME customers who are out of contract. You will also deliver timely and accurate volume and sales forecasts to feed into Finance to support multi-million-pound hedging decisions.

In this role you will demonstrate balancing short-term profit and longer-term value across all the sales channels in both the residential and SME markets. Your contributions are key to ensuring EDF both remains competitive and delivers against our customers’ needs and shareholders expectations and you will always look for new opportunities to add value.

Day to day, you will work collaboratively within the Commercial team as well as with the wider Residential and SME Sales team and the Marketing team. You will provide robust analysis and reporting to support decision making on having the right products, campaigns and pricing to meet sales and renewal targets and customers’ needs. This will include contributing to the design of pricing structures to maximise margin in both the short and long term and supporting the design and operation of a forecast process that delivers a demand forecast which underpins accurate Finance forecasts and minimises energy purchase and hedging risk.

Your background
You will have strong commercial and analytical skills to seek out commercial opportunities. You will have experience creating clear and simple presentations that will inform exec-level decision making whilst keeping in mind both the detailed analysis and the strategic direction. You will have the skills to lead the development, review & testing of complex analysis and modelling, making brave recommendations to inform and challenge business operations, performance and improvement. You will always be looking to simplify and improve existing processes and ways of working. You will be performance and value focused, while being adaptable and prepared to try new things to find new opportunities. You will work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and you will build a collaborative part of a high-performing team that can work flexibly across different markets and managers in line with evolving priorities and the evolving organisation. You will also be committed to health, safety, wellbeing and the environment, and carry out your role in a manner that enables us to be a sustainable business – financially, environmentally and socially.y to attend meetings in one of these locations is required.

Opportunity to return on a 4 or 5 day a weeks basis with hybrid working between office and home.
