The Engineering function at the GSK Ware Manufacturing and Supply site is responsible for the provision of technical expertise to support the manufacturing, automation and controls systems for all production operations to ensure production targets are achieved.

The role operates as part of the site engineering leadership team organization, specifically leading delivery of Capital Projects across the manufacturing and R&D sites, including overall responsibility for management of the site capex budget. Your team are responsible for capital projects ranging from new pharmaceutical production equipment including tablet presses, packing equipment or bespoke blending and filling equipment, the full range of site infrastructure including warehousing, boiler systems, BMS, EMS and other automation systems plus critical utilities such as HVAC, hot/cold services and power (both HV and LV),

Key Responsibilities include;

  • Leading the Capital Portfolio (typically £20-30m per annum) aligned to the site strategy. Responsible for delivery of all projects within cost and schedule targets.
  • Lead a team consisting of GSK staff and contractors to deliver the successful outcome of project scopes.
  • Ensuring team skills are maintained and developed to maintain and improve capacity and capability.
  • Act as a role model for capital project delivery (following Project Management Framework - PMF), satisfying all elements of the Projects Controls Dashboard (programme, cost, risk and reporting) and GSK Finance Manual.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with the clients/customers and wider site functions, acting as a central point of contact for partners.
  • Provide co-ordination to balance site priorities, resources and potential clashes.
  • Working with GSK preferred suppliers for Capital Delivery Partner, Project Controls and other support services through existing and new contracts (NEC4).
  • Ensure stage gate, governance papers and Project Investment Proposal (PIP) submissions align to the site Capital Plan - review and provide feedback on charters, project plans and PIPs prior to submission to ensure Front End Engineering Design (FEED) criteria have been met along with defining a robust business case for investment.
  • Manage all EHS, Quality and Finance aspects of the team aligned to the capital team to ensure a consistent green dashboard.

About You:

This role would suit a motivated individual who has strong experience of working in a project portfolio delivery environment. You will be a qualified engineer (to degree-level or via professional registration), with strong people-management skills, budget planning, contract management and control skills, and pharmaceutical expertise. You will drive common-objective thinking and are focused on providing solutions. It is also important to demonstrate strong partnering skills (both internal customers and external suppliers and contractors). You will also have strong knowledge and understanding of scientific/technical design and operation of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.

About Ware Manufacturing Site:

Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms, many of which are life saving medicines. A series of investments in new state-of-the-art equipment are being made that will support the delivery of a record number of new products. This must be achieved whilst consistently delivering outstanding quality, service and value to our patients.

Basic Qualifications:
