Our client is a large, health and social care not-for-profit organisation who are looking for a Finance Manager with the specific remit of managing the financial planning, budgeting, financial management and reporting for a multi-year construction project.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified finance professional who has experience of supporting capital projects to progress their career - taking ownership of all financial aspects of the project whilst working within a supportive and values-driven organisation.

This role reports directly into the Director of Finance and IT and is part of a collaborative project team that includes Project Managers, external advisors and the Finance Operations team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Taking responsibility for all the financial planning for the project including:
    • Building the budget
    • Develop the phasing of the budget and feed this into the short and long term planning process for the organisation
    • Support with the overall business plan for the project
  • Financing of the project – the project will be funded by the sale of another site.   Short-term bridging finance may be required and in relation to this you will:
    • Determine the shortfall and stress test to determine facility requirement
    • Lead of shortlisting of possible lender banks
    • Support negotiations with bank and application process
    • Manage cash-flow forecasting
  • Act as business partner to the Senior Project Manager and Project Sponsor
    • Re-forecast the budget as the project develops
    • Provide helpful advice and guidance on financial issues
    • Identify risks that may impact on budget or outcome of the project and mitigate those risks
    • Feed into the annual budgeting process
  • Working with the Financial Operations and Management Accounting team, ensure that all transactions are accounted for correctly
  • Ensuring suppliers appropriately charge VAT, working with an external VAT adviser.
  • Project financial reporting

About you:

  • You are a qualified accountant
  • You have experience of supporting capital projects, ideally involving multiple stakeholders
  • You are an excellent relationship builder

Flexibility: 3 days per week, hybrid role with 2 days per week office based

Salary: £60k to £65k FTE
