At Lloyds Banking Group (LBG), we have a clear mission to Help Britain Prosper by creating a more sustainable and inclusive future for people and businesses, shaping finance as a force for good. Our mission is everything. It's what drives us, what makes us different and defines how we will grow. It's how we'll create a future where our planet is cared for, people feel safe and included and businesses and communities can thrive.

What to expect...

An opportunity has arisen to work in the Financial Institutions (FI) Credit team in Commercial Banking Risk. We want to expand our funds portfolio to include hedge funds in line with growth in our Financial Markets business. In Credit Risk we're here to support our business in achieving its goals whilst protecting the bank from loss. In Financial Institutions we work with clients from insurance companies to banks, from pension funds to governments.

Your new team handles a variety of funds (pension schemes, for example); wealth managers; and governments from around the world. As a relatively small team everyone who joins is crucial so your expertise will be invaluable. While hedge funds will be your main focus, there are opportunities to use your current skills, and expand them, to support your wider team.

Our team has daily interactions with Sales, relationship managers, Legal and Onboarding. Looking after these relationships is essential to our team's efficiency given the volume of clients we look after. We also submit reviews and present to senior sanctioners, the Chief Credit Officer and other senior executives. As a close-knit team, we rely on each other to a significant degree and have built a supportive environment. Personal development is encouraged and supported.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • in-depth knowledge of hedge fund credit analysis and experience of analysing other financial institutions.
  • a proven understanding of traded products (swaps, TRS, FX and repurchase agreements) and the associated legal documentation (e.g. ISDA, CSA and GMRA) is also important.
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You'll also need the ability to set credit risk appetite, ensuring it is well communicated to stakeholders while actively running a portfolio of counterparts, reviewing counterparty limits, ratings, and portfolio concentrations to ensure they are accurate and in-line with a constantly evolving credit risk environment.

Being a Credit Officer is a demanding role, with a need to understand important and thought-provoking requests while giving clear and effective communication to colleagues. We're looking for someone who is keen to contribute to our unique FI Credit culture which is at the heart of our efforts to support one another.

So, who are you?

  • You have existing risk management experience of hedge funds and can demonstrate proven credit analysis skills.
  • An ability to learn and develop quickly.
  • Possess well-developed communication and influencing skills.
  • You're happy to challenge the status quo and are comfortable making and explaining decisions.
  • Able to handle conflicting demands whilst delivering on time.

As for diversity, we long for it. Different people bring different ideas and new ways of looking at things. We love being challenged by newcomers whatever their background or circumstances.

We'll also make sure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Basically we want you to be able to bring your very best without anything getting in the way.

And in return:

It is a very exciting time to join LBG. Together we'll continue our market leading, ground breaking transformation and you'll help us realise the Group's vision to become the Best Bank for Customers. Here, you'll grow as a person and develop your career.

In addition to the salary quoted (dependent upon location and experience) the position also offers:

  • Discretionary Performance Share Award
  • Generous pension contribution
  • A flex benefits cash pot you can adjust to suit your lifestyle (4% on top of your basic salary)
  • Private health cover
  • Share schemes
  • 30 days holiday plus bank holidays

Our continued commitment to helping Britain recover means that as a colleague you can make a difference to customers, businesses and communities.

Together we have a key role to play in shaping the bank of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll continue to have opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

We're committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve, and to building an inclusive environment where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit. We support the principles of agile working and are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We're an equal opportunity employer and deeply value diversity within our organisation

So if you have the skills we're looking for, we'd love to hear from you!

Together we make it possible!
