We're looking for a people advisor to join our team on a 12-month contract.

It's never been a more exciting time to join us. You'll play a key part in our newly re-designed people operations and service team and establish fresh ways of working across the new 'people hubs'. You'll work with colleagues across two depots, providing a variety of HR support to upskill managers and come up with creative, pragmatic HR solutions. We'll also look to you to support strong union relationships and assist with complex employee relations matters. We work within a Gartner shared services model, so you'll also be contributing to lots of discovery and delivery groups.

This is a varied role which will allow you to collaborate with a multitude of teams across our different business areas and the chance to create a genuine impact on the delivery of our people strategy and vision.

What you'll do

* support colleagues and managers with the delivery of their people plans
* provide support on complex employee relations cases, working closely with the wider ER team and legal services
* build and maintain positive relationships with our unions (Usdaw and Unite)
* work alongside business leaders to put in place robust solutions to improve colleague experience and to support transformational change
* provide generalist support, advice, and direction to leaders on areas such as absence, talent and succession, conduct, and change activity
* analyse people data to provide insight and recommendation to improve overall colleague experience
* coach line managers with a focus on improving performance, building leadership capability, and growing employee engagement
* record activity on the helpdesk system to improve collaborative working
* make sure that Co-op's vision, values, and dedication to inclusion are integrated into the day-to-day approach of teams

This role would suit people who have

* previous experience with managing complex ER cases
* proven experience of working with unions
* experience of coaching, partnering and influencing colleagues up to senior level
* knowledge of people policies, processes, and governance
* excellent verbal and written communication skills
* self-motivation, with the ability to work both autonomously, and collaboratively
* ability to quickly adapt to change and a desire to experiment to drive continuous improvement
* the ability to think commercially and understand the impact that issues may have on the wider business

Why Co-op?

Here you'll do work that matters. We're a commercial organisation with a purpose beyond profit, you'll have an opportunity to help us build a stronger Co-op and stronger communities. You'll also get a package that includes:

* competitive salary
* coaching, training and support to help you develop
* pension with up to 10% employer contributions
* annual incentive scheme
* 28 days holiday (rising to 32 in line with service)
* discounts on Co-op products and services
* free support for your physical, mental, and financial wellbeing
* Wagestream - a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your salary as you earn it

Building an inclusive work environment

We're actively building diverse teams and welcome applications from everyone. But simply having a diverse workforce is not enough. We aim to build an inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential. We celebrate our differences, and recognise the importance of teams reflecting the communities they serve.

We can make reasonable adjustments to our interview process according to your needs. And we offer a flexible working environment so you can adjust your hours to suit your personal circumstances. You can find out more about Co-op people policies at (url removed)/peoplepolicies
