Senior Manager, Operational Resilience - Open to flexible working

The ability to remain resilient in the face of a range of disruptions from the traditional physical events, to major system outages and the multitude of cyber incidents is one of the most critical challenges facing businesses today. With the pace of change and increased connectivity, organisations are relying on technology to drive their businesses and build systems and processes that are agile and interconnected, however they are not able to withstand severe shocks. As a Resilience Senior Manager you’ll be helping our clients with guidance on how to protect their assets, minimise business disruption and improve their operational resilience as they continue to exploit technology and thrive in the digital environment.

That will mean using your knowledge of resilience, risks and controls and your client facing experience to work with EY staff of all grades to provide clients with the assurance or advice they need. Working with some of the world’s most prestigious Financial Service (FS) organisations you will be an integral part of our Technology Risk team.

The opportunity

As a Senior Manager you will be an influential member of our FS ITRA team and you’ll have the opportunity to work on a range of Risk and Resilience projects, spanning firms’ governance and their ability to prevent, adapt, respond, recover and learn from disruption.

These might include Operational Resilience programs, resilience testing and simulations, enhancements of risk and control frameworks and technology and resilience components of Independent Reviews (e.g. Board reviews, Section 166, Post incident reviews) within FS.

This portfolio also includes engaging with wider Advisory teams on a broad agenda where risk and resilience are near the top. We’re currently growing our team to help meet increasing market demand, reflected in several years of double-digit growth. Our projects typically involve managing multiple stakeholders and require you to give the best advice to our clients using your knowledge and experience to provide the best outcomes.

Your key responsibilities

An important part of your role as a Senior Manager is to establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships. You’ll help create a positive learning culture and will coach and counsel junior team members to help them develop. In line with our commitment to quality, you'll also have a key role in ensuring exceptional client service and delivery. At the same time as maintaining strong client relationships and delivering high quality outcomes you will need to deliver engagements to agreed time and cost budgets.   As a Senior Manager you’ll also be expected to be active in the market, contributing to thought leadership, solution development and developing and responding to proposals.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A strong academic background and demonstrable experience in a number of the following areas:
    • Experience of operational resilience programs or business service framework design, implementation or operation.
    • Business Continuity or ITSC strategy, assessment, design and implementation, governance framework development and the necessary processes and controls, required for the implementation of effective organisational resilience.
    • Resilience, design and implementation of programmes to improve IT Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity.
    • Business process mapping and risk assessment.
    • Hands-on experience in incident and crisis management.
    • Understanding of technology risk and information security control frameworks.
    • Understanding of security policies and procedures, standards and controls in line with regulation and/or current standards, ISO27001.
    • Third party risk management and outsourcing oversight.
    • Technology compliance reviews and/or oversight.
    • Technology change project governance and management.
  • Track record leading and delivering large-scale technology risk and/or resilience engagements for a professional services consultancy firm or a blue chip organisation to quality, time and cost
  • Experience of solution development and thought leadership
  • Experience within the FS industry and a sound understanding of the FS technology landscape

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Proven sales and proposal experience
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and manage cross functional projects
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholder communities with varying levels of experience
  • Have developed a good market network
  • A thorough understanding of UK and European financial services regulatory environment
  • An eagerness and track record in establishing and leading high performance teams and supporting and coaching individual team members
  • Resilience/Continuity related qualifications such as CBCI/AMBCI/MBCI, DRI, Master BCM, ISO22301 auditor, ISO 27001 auditor
  • Project and programme related qualifications; Prince II, Scrum, Agile (desirable)
  • Information security and/or risk related qualifications such as CRISC, CISSP, CISA, IRM or equivalents
