London based (1-3 days per week in the office and the rest from home, we are comfortable if you live in any location as long as you can commute to the office under your own cost)
Salary & Benefits: £61,176 to £80,294 base salary, plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Where does the role sit and what will I develop?
Exciting opportunities have arisen within the Digital Platform Value Stream where a lab is being mobilised to create an Authentication Platform as a Service.
The platform will use innovative technologies that helps us build The Bank of the Future and sets new standards for the industry.
We have key interests in the most modern of authentication patterns and practices including biometrics amongst others and strive to use these technologies across multiple channels including web and mobile.
We are looking to build out our teams of engineers and offer the opportunities to build a career with Lloyds.
What would I focus on as a Java Engineer?
As a Java Engineer, you will work closely with wider engineering and stakeholder community to release business value by delivering reliable, scalable, and high-quality working software to production.
Key to this role is the ability to work autonomously, holistically, and critically assess situations and solutions. The pace and scale of change taking place requires a passion for new thinking, new ideas, and continuous improvement, as well as a flexible approach when interacting with wider teams.
You'll also be involved in;
- Developing and testing robust code using Java
- Maintaining and improving existing software
- Identification of opportunities to automate and simplify.
- Developing API's and Microservices
- Working with a wide range of internal customer and stakeholders
- Mentoring and supporting other Java Engineers in the team
We're also making the move to cloud, so you may get the opportunity to be involved in supporting our move if that is of interest.
What do we need to see from applicants?
We like people who come from diverse industry and cultural backgrounds that can bring new and challenging ways of thinking to the team.
To be considered for the role, you must be able to show demonstrable experience and provide examples / working knowledge of the following in your CV:
- Software Engineering, ideally having focused on Java as your main development language.
- Medium to high skill coding in Java
- Experience of API design and architecture patterns, messaging technologies and Microservices
The follow are desirable, so it would be great if you have them but please apply if you don't!
- Experience and desire to work using Test Driven Development (TDD)
- Experience relevant builds to support CI/CD
- Experience of deployment and monitoring tools
- Understanding of containers, orchestration and service mesh
