Global Category Lead, Lab Testing Service & Safety Assessment Procurement, Open to flexibility

In this role the Global Category Lead will be responsible for managing a global spend of £100m across the three R&D Business Units by creating comprehensive sourcing strategies for lab testing (central labs), Toxicology and bio-markers, Immunogenicity, Bio-analytical testing. You will build strategic relationships with senior scientific leaders to understand business requirements, identify opportunities and create value. You will lead three procurement professionals and provide strategic support for the Head of R&D Discovery and Development Services Procurement.

  • You will be responsible for creating compelling business cases for change and obtain approval to execute from GSK R&D and/or other support functions (Finance, HR) senior management , and to agree how benefit delivery will be budgeted
  • Accountable for delivering global benefits identified in strategies through effective strategy execution, aligned to assurance of supply (risk management), compliance, quality, service, cost and innovation.
  • Proactively engage stakeholders, Finance and other relevant functions in the sourcing strategy delivery and execution.
  • You will build strategic relationships with key suppliers at a senior level and lead processes to ensure value is driven from these relationships. Ensure BUs considerations are accounted for in supplier relationships. Leverage the Business Review Meeting process to drive the relationship.
  • Responsible for leading and directing category teams within scope of responsibility
  • You will build the organisational capabilities necessary to implement GSK strategy, now and in the future.
  • Ensure appropriate communication strategy is in place and in use within the relevant Procurement and business customer networks
