Data Centre Operator Apprentice - Peterborough, Open to flexibility

Within the Chief Information Office, Service Operations and Enterprise Infrastructure Team we ensure that the IT Production Service is available to our customers at point of need 24 hours a day , 365 days a year and ensure that we patch, maintain and operate our Data Centres, Tech Rooms and On Premise Technology stacks to ensure continuous availability and security of our customers data and services.

As a Data Centre Operator Apprentice you will be part of a team that are accountable for the day to day operations within the bank's core Data Centre Environments located within the Peterborough & Corby area.

Using your excellent communication skills you will assist with the managing the relationship with all vendors to ensure compliance with bank policies and standards. In addition you will work with key stakeholders to assist with the management of all aspects of Incident, Problem and Change for Data Centre Operations.

As your knowledge and experience grows you will progress all risks & issues - police site access and deliveries, Health & Safety and non-compliance, ownership of Media Management and data movement between LBG site, provide level 1 hands & eyes support on behalf of 24x7 Operations and key support teams, assist with the management of the Fibre & Ethernet Structured data cabling systems, assist with the management of the Nlyte inventory data and provide a point of contact for Nlyte processes & queries and finally assist with the secure destruction of all redundant IT equipment and Media .

Right from the start, we'll give you full training and all the support you need during your 2 year Apprenticeship. During this time you will be given all the coaching and development you need to achieve your competency through on the job training, classroom and on line training whilst you learn. You don't need previous experience of finance or banking, however you must be keen to develop your career within IT.

This role will require the successful applicant to work 12 hour shifts following a defined shift rota that enables the Data Centre sites to be manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Both night working and weekend working is required as part of this role.

As travel will be required between our Data Centre sites a UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
