Job Purpose

  • Ensure the Immuno-Inflammation teams across priority markets have the right capacity and capabilities, oversee the medical plan activities and input into integrated evidence generation plans and activities  
  • Drives development and execution of regional medical affairs strategies/tactics
  • Drives opportunities to gather regional external and internal insights to shape our understanding of customer needs
  • Translates current and emerging evidence into content of value for internal and external audiences at regional level
  • Collaborates with R&D, country teams and other key cross-functional stakeholders to help shape and execute the medical affairs plans and launch of new indications (eg LN)
  • Develops a strong external network of European lupus experts  

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Medical Affairs setup, partnership and delivery of successful medical plans. Acts as the medical partner to the XF regional team and represents Europe in global forums
  • Support and drive capability building
  • Lead the development and execution of regional plans, including external engagement plans with key stakeholders (e.g. HCP’s, Patients, Payors and Regulators)  
  • Partner with local leads to drive, integrate and prioritise key insights to inform regional medical affairs plans and life cycle strategy
  • Support identification of evidence generation needs and plans to address them.
  • Oversee regional ISSs, SCSs & RWEs
  • Leads the scientific and external engagement strategy for the Therapeutic Area within the region.
  • Partners with the core countries to support implementation of scientific communication strategy, identify synergies and share learnings/ best practice/ competitive intelligence
  • Enable a performance driven culture with clear deliverables and metrics to demonstrate the value and achievements.
  • Provide medical guidance and input into the promotional engagement strategy and tactics.
  • Accountable for Medical input and scrutiny into Launch excellence processes, Launch workshops and LOC deep dives (new indication)

Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree preferred. Will also consider PharmD or PhD in clinical/scientific discipline.
  • Clinical or industry experience of the Immuno-Inflammation therapy area, especially within SLE
  • Regional/Above country experience in a medical affairs role.  
  • Robust understanding of internal (where applicable) and external promotional codes of practice and regulations including ABPI
  • Demonstrated matrix leadership in previous roles
  • Demonstrated success in creating medical strategies, plans and tactics, particularly for biologic or specialty products
  • Ability to influence and inspire teams
  • Proven ability to partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Strong track record and experience in LOC’s and above-country medical roles; and demonstrated success in leading projects to successful outcomes.
  • Ability to listen to stakeholders (patients, payers, providers) and our LOCs to extract insights and drive decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to iterate between high-level strategic perspective and detailed operational implementation elements.
  • Recognized leadership skills in direct and matrix environments, and ability to engage and align different parts of the organization towards efficient decision making, taking accountability for driving performance.
  • Demonstrated excellence in effective communications, influencing, and negotiation for a wide variety of audiences
  • Strong patient focus
