Tax Business Partner – Africa

Group Tax provides support to all of Diageo’s markets, including those in the African continent. This support covers areas such as tax reporting and compliance, tax risk management, managing advisory relationships, transfer pricing compliance, business development, financing and indirect taxes. 
The purpose of the role is tol lead Tax support for all the Africa markets-  specifically:

  • Providing strategic direction on tax opportunity identification and risk management/mitigation
  • Offering decision support on all commercial projects for their markets which require tax input
  • Supporting to the Business Development team on relevant projects in Africa
  • Ensuring that all tax policies are consistently executed across the region, across both wholly owned businesses & JVs
  • Assisting with transfer pricing compliance, including review and approval of annual TP adjustments, review of TP documentation,  audit management and risk mitigation
  • Educating the FDs & wider African finance community on being tax aware & tax smart
  • Providing support on tax audits for their markets (covering direct and indirect challenges)
  • Building relationships with non-tax stakeholders and developing tax capabilities and awareness to enable improved decision-making, evaluation and issue resolution is a key feature of the role
  • The role will also contribute to global tax projects, sharing the Africa perspective and supporting broader tax initiatives

Qualifications and experience required 

  • Qualified accountant (ACA and/or ATII or CTA) with at least 4-5 years PQE and relevant experience in operational tax roles

  • Broad understanding of key direct and indirect international tax issues
  • Effective project management and implementation skills
  • Strong team working and communication skills across diverse cultures
