About us

At Camden, we're working closely with our communities to build a better, fairer borough for everyone, and to make sure that nobody gets left behind. Since the start of the pandemic, Camden’s extraordinary community spirit has shone through and our communities have pulled together to support each other. As we continue to live with COVID-19, it’s crucial that we continue to do everything we can to work with and support our communities - and this is especially important as we work to deliver the ambitions of We Make Camden, our recently published vision for the borough. In this role, you will lead internal communications for our workforce to support their work with and on behalf of our residents and communities, and delivering our internal strategy, The Way We Work.

The role

As our Internal Communications Manager you will provide strategic leadership for all staff communications activity across our large and complex organisation – supporting our vision to become a truly inclusive organisation at a time of significant change as we move forward from the pandemic and focus on achieving our We Make Camden ambitions and delivering our internal strategy, The Way We Work.

Working closely with our Chief Executive and senior leaders you will provide strategic communications advice to ensure that staff feel informed and engaged, alongside planning, delivering and evaluating a range of multi-channel campaigns to support priorities.

You will be responsible for the overall internal communications agenda and forward plan of activity, and the ongoing development of our internal communications channels – including our intranet, internal social media, video and events including the Chief Executive’s atrium briefings.

You will provide management and support for the Internal Communications Officer (which is a job share post), as well as contributing to the overall forward plan of priorities for Communications.

This role is fixed term providing Maternity Leave cover from June to 1 November 2022 – we are therefore looking for someone who can quickly grasp the detail and lead on delivering high quality internal communications for the Council.

About you

You will have the experience and skills to deliver high-performing, evidence-based internal communications across the organisation, and have experience working with senior stakeholders.

You will have strong writing skills, an excellent understanding of the role of internal communications and will be comfortable and confident engaging with staff at all levels across the organisation. You will be focused on delivery and be able to turn around a busy portfolio of work including meeting competing deadlines.

Working for Camden

We’re ready to welcome your ideas, your views on excellent internal communications and staff engagement, and your rebellious spirit. Help us redefine how we’re supporting people, and we’ll redefine what a career can be. If that sounds good to you, we’d love to talk.

At Camden, you’ll receive a host of benefits as well as joining a flexible working employer.
