Risk Advisory Quality and Risk Management, Commercial Lawyer/Consultant, London or Belfast, Open to flexibility

Your opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with Deloitte’s Risk Advisory business, as part of the Quality & Risk Management team. The role involves working with the Risk Advisory business on complex contractual and commercial negotiations, many of which will require experience of negotiating technology contracts.

Your role

You will deliver high-quality, business-focused solutions in a challenging, dynamic and demanding marketplace, and will act as a business advisor and to partner with the business. To do this, you will be expected to assess and understand how business risks can be managed and mitigated.

Our team is aligned to the market we support through our three key industries, namely Financial Services, Public Sector and Private Sector. The role is expected to have a specific industry focus on Private Sector, however the successful candidate will over time be able to experience all three.

  • Review and negotiation of engagement contracts across Risk Advisory and MSAs/framework agreements including direct discussion with clients and their legal advisors
  • Review of NDAs, proposals, engagement letters, sub-contracts, teaming agreements
  • Training and communications as well as supporting in the compliance programme
  • Developing practical commercial solutions for Deloitte’s business and client service teams - enabling them to provide excellent client service while managing Deloitte’s risk
  • Supporting the QRM team in its advice to Deloitte ’s senior management and practitioners on general legal and risk management issues, based on an understanding and appreciation of the key business risks that need to be managed
  • Advising on and assisting in determining contracting and negotiating guidelines and policies
  • Answering ad-hoc risk and legal queries from all business units

Your work, your choice

How long does impact take? How long is a piece of string? How many seconds does a solution contain? How can we possibly tell? After all, impact can be huge or small. Immediate or years in the making. At Deloitte we believe the best impact is the value we add, not the hours we sit at our desk.

We, therefore, carefully consider agile ways of working, both formal and informal, that allow for the best impact for our people and our clients. If the working pattern you are looking for is not specifically indicated below, we are happy to discuss alternative arrangements.

Location: The role can either be located in our London office, or in our Belfast office with regular travel to London

Suggested work pattern: Permanent full-time

Your professional experience

  • A qualified lawyer, or person with considerable experience in negotiating complex commercial contracts in an international context
  • In-house experience desirable, but not essential
  • Ability to manage a demanding work load effectively and to be responsive
  • Experience of dealing with and managing senior management and stakeholders
  • Awareness and interest in risk management
  • IT and outsourcing experience desirable
