The opportunity

Architecting transformation for our clients is at the heart solving the most complex problems from front to back across our clients’ organisations. Those problems and opportunities span customer journeys, operating model, technology and process changes and our strength as a firm is to bring the range of our skills and capabilities from across our firm. 

Our Financial Services Business Design and wider Business Transformation team are investing into standing-up a dedicated Business Case capability. This offering will formalise the commercial lens we apply in our client facing project work by looking at the financial and non-financial aspects using a robust approach enabling us to provide full stack end-to-end business change support. All our project work requires a business case module. 

We are recruiting to support across all types of client work: a) Identifying the opportunity, b) Assessing top-down potential, c) Creating the bottom-up view, d) Interlocking the business case, e) Tracking and monitoring.

As a Senior Consultant you will draw from your skills and experience to help clients transform their businesses across this lifecycle. You will be critical for the new capability we are developing

Key responsibilities

Client facing project work will include, but not be limited to: 

  • Supporting the Business Case Manager and Business Case Lead on client facing engagements
  • Defining the scoping and principles for the business case – the ‘case for change’, key metrics and success outcomes across quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Supporting opportunity identification, value targeting and prioritisation
  • Assessing the top-down potential and size of the prize
  • Appraising bottom-up initiatives
  • Creating the financial business case – using inputs and assumptions, quantifying the ROI/payback, and securing the CAPEX required
  • Ongoing tracking and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) / objectives and key results (OKRs)

Internal practice development and capability build, which will include: 

  • Supporting the methodology and training roll-out out across our core Business Transformation Consultant cohort – focusing on how to define a business case, principles to follow/typical challenges, step-by-step guide to how to create and model, and example project approaches 
  • Scaling up our capability
  • Driving commercial outcomes, by supporting dedicated community meetings, key success indicators, involvement in pipeline and ongoing monitoring of success

Skills and attributes for success

  • Strategic thinking – structured problem solving, root cause hypotheses developing and storyboarding to agree out approaches, insights, and next steps
  • Intellectual strength, curiosity, and flexibility to navigate ambiguous client requirements, challenge the status quo, rapidly understand complex problems, and rationalise these into a workable solution
  • Highly meticulous with detail, ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, and collaborate effectively across multiple teams and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills with ability to present evidence-based solutions succinctly and creatively
  • Skills to effectively manage stakeholders both internally and externally and ability to build effective relationships
  • Ability to collaborate within teams, manage small teams and own delivery of work product(s)
  • Ability to work under limited supervision (self-starter) in unstructured environments
  • Flexibility to travel to, and work in, other locations is essential

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • A business operational and/or financial and/or management consulting background, ideally with experience in running technical process and quantitative analysis for financial services firms (across either Insurance, Wealth & Asset Management or Banking & Capital Markets)
  • Experience of developing financial and non-financial metrics, conducting opportunity prioritisation, intake of ideas and building out roadmaps
  • Some experience of baselining and designing / optimising customer channels across people, process, and technology to deploy and manage resources to deliver a winning customer experience (i.e., Sales operating model design, Marketing operating model design, and Customer Service operating model design) more effectively
