Global Category Manager, R&D Procurement – Chemistry, Open to flexibility

Are you interested in ensuring the critical supply of Chemistry outsourcing services for pharmaceutical drug discovery and development?

This position is essential in delivering the GSK R&D pipeline and to manage GSK product lifecycles. You will be responsible for a spend of £35m-£40m globally and will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the market actors, their capabilities and capacities.

The global strategy will take account of functional business needs and therapeutic area needs. The global strategy will be comprehensive with BUs requests and will be consistent with regional or local needs. More specifically this scope will cover both needs coming from pre-clinical and clinical activities.

Your Responsibilities

  • Execute sourcing strategies for spend categories in scope of responsibility aligned with the requirements of stakeholders and business partners
  • Define and implement a risk base approach to enhance assurance of supply
  • Build strategic relationship with a network of R&D stakeholders
  • Influence key stakeholders and business partners to support strategy development endorse recommend strategies, support execution and agree how benefit delivery will be budgeted
  • Manage the supply base for the categories within scope through a robust performance management process. Ensure supplier performance is understood and measured.
  • Develop and Implement Operational excellence strategies and plans for key regional/local suppliers to drive improvements against KPIs.

Why You?

Basic qualifications:

  • University Degree in Business, Finance, Sciences
  • Significant years of experience in procurement
  • English proficiency (written and oral)
  • Leadership/communication skills
  • Demonstrated business acumen & knowledge of R&D categories
  • Stakeholder management at a senior level (as far as SVP)
  • Good understanding of financial principles and reporting
  • Ability to think strategic to build relationship (with stakeholders and suppliers) and to create sourcing plans
  • Proven ability to lead high level negotiations for long term and/or multi-countries high value contracts

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's Degree Business Administration / Finance / Sciences
