About the role

The Head of Tax Technology will steer the strategy and course of our tax technology function to ensure we establish efficient and effective end-to-end management of tax compliance and reporting processes across Diageo globally with best and cost-efficient use of technology available. 

You will assist with:

Ensuring all tax processes are as standardized to the extent possible, driving simplification and efficiency

  • Providing oversight across all aspects of Tax, improving quality to reduce errors and penalties, driving effectiveness
  • Enforcing quality standards in everything we do
  • Ensuring Diageo is well prepared for the ‘digitisation’ of tax management
  • Developing standardised, controlled global process to manage increasing e-Invoicing demands.

About you

  • Manage and develop a Tax Technology team of seven people.
  • Determine tax technology priorities and use of internal and external resources.
  • Responsible for the design, build and deployment of low code technology solutions (the MS Power Suite, Alteryx and similar tools).
  • Drive the automation of the Global Tax function
  • Operate a tax technology governance function for Diageo’s enterprise systems including SAP and direct to consumer platforms
  • Handle tax technology vendors.
  • Coordinate and support the maintenance and data management of tax provision and tax compliance software.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and vendors to troubleshoot, resolve and improve deployed tax technology solutions.
  • Help establish Tax process board and governance structure, and to ensure that those boards and structures are sufficient to deliver our core commitments as a Global Tax function
  • Measure the benefits delivered in terms of exposure to compliance risk as well as both effectiveness and efficiency targets
  • Continually supply new ideas and challenge assumptions around what is possible to ensure that we set and achieve stretching targets
  • Define process performance metrics and to ensure these are delivered across end to end process.
  • Instill a digital approach across the Global Tax function and assist with the technological upskilling of the function.

What you'll bring

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience automating tax accounting processes
  • 7-10 years’ experience in project management, handling full lifecycle software development and/or implementation projects
  • Familiarity with tax software vendors, software functionalities, capabilities and weaknesses
  • Experience with data management/manipulation and technology/automation implementation
  • Ability to work with people at all levels
  • Experience training management and staff on new systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal communications skills. Able to influence and build consensus appropriately. Excellent writing skills.
  • Experience crafting presentations and delivering them to Senior Management
  • Demonstrated outstanding organizational and time leadership skills
  • Ability to adapt to rapid change
  • Knowledge of a process methodology desired
  • Significant senior management experience in tax in a FMCG/Big 4 advisory environment
  • Qualified Accountant or MBA or ATT
  • Strong Financial process and governance understanding and experience at an operational and leadership level in general finance and / or Tax
  • A broad range of tax process and control experience across a wide range of territories
  • Excellent pan cultural impact and influencing skills
  • Objective, clear-headed and willing to challenge the status quo
  • Experience with process improvement and change management
  • Exemplary people management and influencing skills are prerequisite
  • Proven track record to align multiple stakeholders and engage the organisation effectively behind a strategy
