Do you have time to give to a charity that supports single Asian mums? If so, we need YOU! Asian Women Lone Parents Association (AWLPA) was founded to support women from the South Asian Community who are fleeing domestic violence.
We support single Asian mothers and their children, by providing signposting, advocacy, emotional support, workshops, activities and events which empower women to stay safe and move forward with their lives.
We are looking for trustees to join our Board to help lead the organisation during this pivotal and exciting time.
We would like to hear from people who understand the needs of single Asian mothers and have a drive to help make a meaningful difference. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, an understanding of the social and political context in which domestic violence occurs and be able to work strategically in a charity environment. You should be able to commit to at least 4 board meetings a year and one full day meeting.
We are looking for women with one or more of the following skills:
- financial management
- an understanding and commitment to the needs of women from the South Asian community
- recruitment and personnel management
- public relations
- education and learning
