Deputy Team Leader (South), Open to flexible working

Hackney is London's most diverse, dynamic borough. Reaching from the Square Mile to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, this is an area of rapid economic growth, particularly in technology, media, fashion and other creative industries. Hackney has more green spaces than any other inner London borough; some of the capital's finest schools; first class transport connections; excellent public services; and thriving arts, cultural and retail sectors. We seek people with ambition, creativity and commitment to ensure our economic growth provides benefits for everyone and creates opportunities to transform the lives of residents.

A vacancy has arisen for the position of Deputy Team Leader within one of the 2 Development Management area teams.  You will be responsible for assisting the Team Leader with the signing-off of cases and pre-application advice, and will have responsibility to supervise more junior staff, along with other duties identified by the Team Leader, such as assisting with the performance management of the team.

As an experienced Planning Officer you will have a Post Graduate qualification in Town Planning and membership of (or eligibility to apply for) RTPI along with experience of Section 106 negotiations.

You will have an analytical approach and excellent organisational skills and have exceptional communication skills – both oral and written.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Planning Officer who is looking to take the next step in their career and obtain more formal supervisory experience.

Please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification.  It is essential that you include a supporting statement, no longer than two sides of A4, addressing how your skills, knowledge and experience meet all the aspects of the post.

At Hackney, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is stimulating, fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation. If you share our values and are ready to be part of our exciting journey please visit our website via the 'Apply' button to apply.

Closing date: 17 October 2018 @ (22:59hrs)

Interview date: TBC

We are passionate about equal opportunities and welcome applicants with a broad diversity of talent and those who are interested in flexible working arrangements.
