FRS-UK are actively recruiting for an Instrumentation Technician/Engineer to join a specialist consultancy with a focus on complex water-related projects, creating next-generation tools and technology and creating state-of-the-art facilities.
The Instrumentation Technician/Engineer will play a key role in the fabrication of this equipment, working with our mechanical engineering team to develop the solutions required by our clients. You will produce accurate, high-quality scientific measuring equipment while assisting with fault-finding, repair and servicing of projects to fulfil customer expectations.
Key Skills, knowledge and understanding
Mechanical and electrical/electronic understanding
An understanding of the importance of documentation, manufacturing processes and protocols.
Knowledge of limits, fits and tolerances
Optical encoder set-up and assembly
Experience, knowledge and understanding of telemetry systems
Load cell transducer knowledge would also be advantageous
PC-based computer knowledge as it applies to production requirements i.e using CRM systems to locate parts as required from stores
While not essential, strengths in the following area would be a real bonus
Practical Electrical skills: Soldering, basic wiring, knowledge and application of strain gauges and load cell transducers (non-essential as training would be given).
Language skills: excellent spoken and written English will be the minimum requirement. As we work all over the world, other languages would also be welcome.
Completed apprenticeship or further education qualification: Mechanical, electrical or scientific subject.
At least 3 years experience working within a small-scale production laboratory environment building instrumentation / electromechanical systems
