Portfolio Medical Affairs Manager, Open to flexibility

GSK is offering a new career opportunity for a Portfolio Medical Affairs Manager's (or Director) role for UK & Ireland Region. If you are keen to take on this exciting challenge and become a member of Our GSK family, your day-to-day responsibilities and accountabilities would be:

  • Lead, manage and develop the office and field-based medical therapy team to help deliver the GSK mission and to ensure achievement of company objectives, such as:
    • Setting business objectives and priorities
    • Driving and shaping the environment to facilitate market access for GSK.
  • GSK values collaboration therefore you would work closely with colleagues across GlaxoSmithKline UK (e.g. Marketing, Sales, Health Outcomes) and the relevant Centre(s) of Excellence.
  • Support ownership and delivery of the medical aspects of the therapy area business plans for the Portfolio Team (i.e. Speciality Care, Classic & Established Products and Pipeline Assets).
  • You would need to provide authoritative opinion on medical and ethical matters to support the team and other colleagues across GSK, enabling the evidence-based use of GlaxoSmithKline medicines and compliance (e.g. ABPI Code of Practice, Medicines Act, and EU Directives).
  • Formulating and implementing short- and long-term medical strategy for optimal benefit to the patient, prescriber and GSK.
  • As the Portfolio Medical Affairs Manager, you would build relationships with key experts and external organisations to ensure that GlaxoSmithKline retains a leading voice in the UK Healthcare industry.
  • Support Clinical Research activities to be acknowledged of changes within the market.

  • Line management of between 3 and 6 direct reports
  • No specific budgetary control

Why You?

Basic qualifications:

  • A GMC registered medical doctor with the right to work in the UK.
  • Relevant therapy area knowledge (rheumatology, oncology or speciality medicine)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team of medical and scientific professionals

Preferred qualifications:

  • Broad Pharmaceutical industry experience or equivalent.
  • Preferably Dip Pharm Med or equivalent qualification and membership of FPP or working towards it.
  • Managing the priorities of different internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactive, self-motivated, self-reliant, excellent communicator.
