Project background

  • We are currently half-way through an initial operational review and opportunity assessment of a client’s procurement and supply-chain function. The aim is to identify opportunities to both improve efficiency and effectiveness of the team and to understand the potential financial and non-financial impact of changes to current ways of working
  • We have already completed 1-2-1 interviews with ~ 20 individuals within the procurement team and other business stakeholders, in addition to a review of existing tools and processes. In parallel we have also completed detailed analysis of the client’s cost base
  • Having completed most of the assessment and analysis phase, we are now looking for an experienced consultant on a part-time / flexible working basis to work with the Ad Alta programme lead to complete various pieces of analysis and draft the final client report by mid-October 2018
  • The ideal candidate will have sufficient experience that they will require minimal supervision or micro-management, enabling the director to focus on client relationships and planning for the next phase of the project

Role

  • The role will involve:
  1. Some final analysis in Excel and associated graphs/charts to support the financial opportunity assessment piece, including high-level cost / activity analysis + P&L impact of cost savings
  2. Drafting process maps + associated commentary
  3. Translating the insights and quotes from the various 1-2-1 interviews into insightful final report slides
  4. Structuring and drafting the final PowerPoint report, including ThinkCell graphics and other creative ideas (including other graphics / icons) to avoid text-heavy slides
  5. Outsourcing, wherever it makes commercial sense, PowerPoint slide generation (including graphics) to a 3rd party, to free-up valuable time from the consultant and project director to focus on more value-added activities
  • The role would lend itself perfectly to a part-time support during school hours e.g. 10-3pm with evenings and/or via home/remote working (except when it makes sense to be with or work alongside the project director)

Client

  • The actual client is London-based, but no client travel is required other than to and from venues in Chiswick for joint Ad Alta team working

Location

  • West London-based (Chiswick) + remote / home working
  • Car would be ideal to support flexible working location(s), although tube would be fine

Timings

  • The specific ‘live’ project is likely to move into the next phase at the end-October
  • We are planning our resources around:

-Part-time days e.g. 10am-3pm (with extra hours if desired), or

-Normal working days (including time from home)

Pay-rate

  • TBD – to attract the best, but hourly rate commensurate with the role grade and experience

Key skills and capabilities:

Essential

  • Prior work experience / training with a top-tier strategy consulting firm e.g. Bain, McKinsey, BCG etc.
  • Significant experience and evidence of personally structuring and drafting final client reports in PPT and ThinkCell
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and ThinkCell
  • Experience of high-level financial / benefits case modelling + process / activity analysis
  • Excellent attention to detail and top-tier quality focus
  • Extremely professional approach with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Top-tier academics
  • 5+ years of experience within a consulting firm i.e. senior consultant / junior manager minimum
  • Analytical and research skills

Nice to have

  • A creative thinker, who enjoys representing data and information in more engaging ways, rather than just standard PowerPoint text and graphs
  • Experience of liaising with 3rd party graphics support organisations
  • Procurement / cost reduction and operational transformation experience / knowledge
