Job Description

Context/Scope:  

This is a pivotal role in the category team.  It has specific responsibility for managing & developing all “pre-deal” and “post-deal” commercial Logistics, Raw Materials and Packaging proposals.  Currently, this includes the following:

  • Logistics network design using Llamasoft design software
  • Managing all Supply sourcing events using specialist software – Trade-Extensions
  • Developing and managing internal and external benchmarking, should cost models and inflation models
  • Developing contracts for Category Managers to negotiate with providers
  • Develop and implement the freight audit capability to be rolled out across key Move markets
  • Management of the Logistics and Raw Materials Research and Innovation resources

The role works alongside the Category Managers providing them with the infrastructure and capability to deliver the overall category strategy.  The innovation in “post-deal” with regard to development of logistics contracts / SRM programme / Freight Audit will be fundamental to driving value through the category in the future.  This role will manage a number of 3rd party vendors responsible for providing the services.

Purpose of Role:

Support of global logistics category strategy through: 

  • Provision of valuable analytical information
  • Lead sourcing projects through management of Trade Extensions sourcing software developing scenario analysis capability within the software for circa £250m of freight per annum – driving eAuctions
  • Develop standard logistics contracts including SLA’s, for transport and warehousing
  • Develop the freight audit & pay solution to be implemented globally with a key focus on emerging markets
  • Develop the logistics SRM solution linking into the MOVE programme and leading the development of commercial logistics management

Qualifications and Experience Required: 

  • University Degree in quantitative or commercially biased discipline
  • Finance qualification desirable (e.g. CIMA)
  • Must have 5 - 7 years’ experience which should include the following:
  • Significant procurement responsibilities in a blue chip organisation
  • Experience of logistics operations and working with 3rd party providers of logistics services, and an understanding of how logistics solutions are designed and developed
  • Experience in working with other key stakeholder functions e.g. finance, manufacturing, supply chain, marketing etc
  • Demonstrable leadership experience, e.g. leading projects; programmes; business units or line management
  • Experience of specialist software – Llamasoft for network modelling and Trade Extensions for managing sourcing projects
