Writing Programme Leader (maternity cover) - potential job share
Ministry of Stories is looking for an inspirational Writing Programme Leader to deliver our pioneering creative writing programme as maternity cover.
We are willing to consider a job share for this role, to be discussed at interview if the appropriate candidates come forward. You can apply for a job share as an individual or in a partnership with another candidate. Please do let us know if you would like to discuss this before applying.
The Writing Programme Leaders are the key members of the Ministry of Stories creative learning team, responsible for the effective delivery of our core writing programmes, both for visiting school groups, in schools and in our out of school writing clubs for local children aged 8-12 years old. The two Writing Programme Leaders (Schools and Out of School) share responsibility for delivering this work, managing the relationships with children, families, teachers, schools, writers, designers, volunteers and other partners involved in the programme. Although this Writing Programme Leader role is primarily focused on out of school work, some in-school delivery will also be required. The Writing Programme Leaders’ work is overseen and line managed by the MoS Director.
The key aim for this role is to develop and deliver an inspiring programme of term-long writing programmes, holiday projects and flagship events. Working closely with the MoS Director, the other Writing Programme Leader (Schools) and a team of experienced and new volunteers, and collaborating with writers, artists, designers, parents and teachers, you will ensure the children get the most from the experience. You will facilitate exceptional creative learning, operate effective systems for keeping track of children’s work and engage parents and teachers.
We are refining our core programme offer and during this maternity cover period, MoS will undergo a period of programme development for which we will require support and input from this role.
You will be a specialist in reading and writing, with educational, creative and administrative and project management experience. You will recognise creativity in everyone and enjoy collaboration. You will need excellent facilitation and communication skills and experience of leading outstanding creative learning workshops. This is a unique role that combines delivery with project management, and needs a diverse range of skills and excellent time management.
Ministry of Stories encourages people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled people and other underrepresented groups to apply. We welcome applications from all sectors and industries.
