Line Turnaround Technician, Open to flexibility

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team at GSK Worthing. We are seeking Line Turnaround Technicians to work within our Parenterals Business Unit (PBU) team.

About the site:

At Worthing, our focus is to manufacture and supply the broad-spectrum antibiotic, Augmentin as oral tablets, suspensions and sterile injectable dose forms. The site has a complex operation with two orals manufacturing areas, two packing areas with 12 lines, a bulk sterile manufacturing plant and vial filling lines. There has been significant recent investment in the site including a new £120m bulk sterile facility due to come on line in 2019.

What will the role look like?

You will work within the Sterile and surrounding areas involved in all aspects of the weekly Line 9 Turnaround. This will include stripping, washing and rebuilding the filling machine as well as washing and decontaminating parts and running the Autoclave and VHP hatches. In addition you will undertake relevant In Process checks / monitoring activities whilst maintaining the Sterile Area in accordance to all aspects of GMP and EHS.

Day to Day responsibilities will include:

  • Stripping and washing the Filling machine in accordance with the prescribed sequence of work
  • Rebuilding of Filling Machine (product and non-contact parts),
  • Adhering to aseptic behavioural standards and able to comply with strict GMP
  • Proactive problem solving, focused on finding a solution
  • Machine part preparation for autoclaving,
  • Running the Parts Washer, Autoclave and VHP hatches
  • Setting up batches on the filler, capper and Inspection booths
  • Completion of batch documentation
  • Weekly Cleaning of Filling Cabinet, Cleaning of Grade B area and Grades C & D areas.
  • Re-Commissioning of Sterile Area & Production Line following shutdown

About You:

You must be prepared to be gowning validated, media fill validated and be willing and able to work in the Grade B environment in 2 hour sessions, 5 times per shift over a 12 hour shift.
You will be required to work in a very controlled, restricted environment with minimal social interaction and strict behavioural controls. There is a need to balance multiple priorities and tasks whilst demonstrating consistent good aseptic behaviour, patience and self-control are key attributes.

Please note this role will be based at our site in Worthing, West Sussex. The shift pattern for this role is working nights across Friday / Saturday and Sunday (3 days on 4 days off).

  • Able to work as part of a small focused team with minimal supervision on nights
  • Able to work with and set up / troubleshoot complex filling machines
  • SAP knowledge
  • Computer skills
  • Mechanical knowledge

Preferred qualifications:

  • GCSE's Maths and English A-C grade
  • Experience of working within a sterile environment
