Director Clinical Development, Open to flexibility

The GSK Clinical Science group within the global Development organisation comprises physicians and scientists delivering novel and transformational medicines to treat a range of conditions. Joining a global programme team, you will be accountable for the provision of globally integrated medical governance and clinical leadership of the late phase clinical trial programme in rheumatoid arthritis, and successful delivery of the clinical trial programme, according to quality standards, timelines and budget measures.

At senior director level, you will be working as the responsible clinical lead in a global matrix team in a role with provides opportunities for strategic leadership. You will be a talented and experienced physician with relevant clinical expertise in immuno-inflammation, as well as a track record of delivering high quality data of novel therapies in this disease area.

The key elements of the role are to provide:

  • Clinical leadership and disease area expertise in the conduct of global rheumatoid arthritis clinical trials, working with a CRO partner
  • Single point of accountability for the Medical Governance of the rheumatoid arthritis clinical trial programme with a global viewpoint of safety and efficacy
  • Physician leadership of the rheumatoid arthritis clinical study team
  • Input to trial design, protocol development, reporting & data interpretation and other medical aspects of the clinical studies
  • Oversight of medical monitoring of the trials to ensure subject safety and appropriate detection and management of safety related issues
  • Active contribution to the Integrated Evidence, Safety Review, and Clinical Matrix Teams
  • Medical point of contact on behalf of GSK (sponsor) for external vendors, GSK Local Operating Companies, investigators and regulatory agencies
  • Input to Integrated Evidence Generation plan and market access strategy

Why You?

Basic qualifications:

  • Medical degree with UK General Medical Council /US Board Certification or equivalent status required along with medical expertise and/or recent experience in rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Additional pharmaceutical experience in immuno-inflammation or an academic higher qualification (i.e. PhD) is preferred
