Your opportunity

We are seeking a talented Consultant for the US/UK High Net Worth tax team. You will have the opportunity to develop your experience and knowledge advising our diverse client base on their complex US and UK tax affairs. 

Your role

Deloitte's US/UK High Net Worth tax team is recognised as a market leader in this area and our team is multi-disciplinary, focused on proactively delivering the very best advice to our clients, with whom we seek to build deep and lasting relationships. The US/UK High Net Worth team consists of over 40 tax specialists who provide a range of US and UK tax compliance and advisory services. As well as extensive experience dealing with individuals, senior executives, trusts and entrepreneurs, we have expertise in dealing with individuals in private markets and funds (private equity, hedge funds and real estate funds), law firm partners and those in the world of sports and entertainment. With a growing global client network we pride ourselves on providing a distinctive client experience and dual-handling capability to the high net worth and law firm markets. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to join a dynamic and successful team, the role will be diverse and challenging, working with high net worth individuals and/or law firm partners across all aspects of individual tax with a particular focus on US/UK tax advisory and compliance services.

As an Director within the tax practice you will have responsibility for:

  • Being an integral part of the team, energetically engaged in the management and growth of the practice 
  • Becoming part of our global High Net Worth taxation network, using this to enhance your own credentials and the client experience 
  • A portfolio of High Net Worth clients – both compliance and advisory work 
  • Maintaining and developing client relationships by being the first point of contact 
  • Promoting the Deloitte High Net Worth brand in the wider firm, liaising with other offices and teams regarding potential and mutual clients and identifying mutual opportunities 
  • Demonstrating a thorough knowledge of the local market trends, identifying direct targets and liaising with connectors to identify potential new clients
  • Providing US/UK tax advice to high net worth individuals in relation to their complex personal tax affairs with a focus on US/UK tax expertise, often dealing with complex international tax issues 
  • Management of US/UK tax compliance services 
  • Taking responsibility for client relationships and liaising directly with clients and third parties 
  • Having a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them; have a clear understanding of the firm’s commitment to creating a more inclusive culture 
  • Helping clients solve complex issues by performing analysis , providing recommendations and utilising a combination of experience, industry knowledge, tools, and technology 
  • Leading the delivery of client projects or work streams by developing work plans, managing team members and engagement financials, producing (or overseeing production of) high quality deliverables 
  • Working with a range of stakeholders, and being seen as a subject matter expert within client organisations and by colleagues 
  • Having a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them; have a clear understanding of the firm’s commitment to creating a more inclusive culture 
  • Supporting business development by leading new business proposals and taking role in industry and account teams 
  • Contributing to internal practice development by participating in proposition, methodology and point of view development activities and supporting knowledge capture and sharing 
  • Playing an active role in the career development of more junior colleagues 
  • Developing and maintain deep industry knowledge 
  • Having a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them; having a clear understanding of the firm’s commitment to creating a more inclusive culture.

Your professional experience

To qualify for the respective roles you must have: 

  • Strong US and UK technical skills and qualified to at least ATT (ideally CTA) and EA levels, or equivalent qualifications or experience 
  • Experience of international tax concepts and principles (residence, domicile, trusts)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral 
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload, meet deadlines and work well under pressure 
  • Strong client engagement experience 
  • Able to take ownership and use initiative to resolve problems with practical solutions
  • Ability to exercise appropriate level of judgement 
  • Drive and ambition to succeed and exceed our clients’ expectations and a pro-active approach to personal development 
  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness 
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment rapidly and to respond to clients appropriately in this context 
  • Good team player with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels 
  • Experience of delegation and interest and skills to develop more junior members of the team.
