The Sales & Marketing Manager, BRC Learning, will help recruit the first and subsequent cohort of students. Working closely with the Learning Services Manager and colleagues in the marketing team, the role holder will be responsible for planning and executing a content-marketing strategy to build, nurture and close the sales pipeline.

Role Purpose:

As new technology, intense competition, increasing costs and changing consumer behaviour transform retail, there could be up to 900,000 fewer jobs in retail by 2025. At BRC, we have a vision for ‘Better Jobs’ - higher skilled, more productive and more digitally connected - where the industry is seen as a career of choice and a diversity and inclusion leader.

An important element of this is enabling our members and the wider industry to benefit from the Apprenticeship Levy, a relatively new tax paid by employers exceeding a £3m wage bill, who can subsequently use their levy to fund apprenticeships. Our two new Degree Apprenticeships will launch in 2019, offering retailers Level 5 and Level 6 courses tailored to this dynamic industry.

The role is based at our London Bridge office and reports to the Membership Director.

The Role:

Specifically, the role holder will:

  • Create and project manage the marketing plan
  • Create, curate or commission content from within BRC and members to raise awareness, and nurture leads for BRC Learning
  • Create targeted email and social campaigns to create engagement
  • Understand and tap in decision making units
  • Work with the other team members and the wider organisation to ensure a co-ordinated sales approach to the industry
  • Identify and research potential partners’ businesses to ensure a knowledge-based and consultative approach
  • Own the commercials: pipeline management and reporting
  • Pitch, negotiate and close deals, through email, telemarketing and face-to-face pitches
  • Act as first response to filter incoming leads and triage accordingly
  • Learn and understand the environment in which their stakeholders operate
  • Compile detailed market knowledge (including competitor landscape) and use this information to drive the growth of the BRC Learning portfolio
  • Attend other industry events to maximise networks
  • Keep oversight of the BRC Learning pipeline
  • Contribute to the overall development of the growth and future strategy of the Marketing & Events team

Skills and Knowledge:

To be successful you will have experience in marketing and communications programmes within a B2B services environment, such as software, consultancy, data services, training and education. You will blend strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, the expectation being that you will both initiate and execute marketing to drive sales of BRC Learning.

Experience within sales/account management/client services roles will be advantageous, as listening to and understanding partners’ objectives is central to delivering mutually beneficial propositions. Experience of using CRM systems (eg Microsoft Dynamics) and email tools (eg ClickDimensions) would be advantageous.

This is a part-time (21 hours per week) initially fixed term contract (until the end of June 2019) opportunity based at our head office in London Bridge.
