Senior Media and Public Relations Officer, Part time 17.5 hours/wk

An exciting opportunity for the post holder to lead, implement and develop media and campaign plans for the range of College projects and initiatives whilst also being the first point of contact regarding all media enquiries.

About:

In this role, your duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • To provide strategic advice to the RCPCH President, senior RCPCH Officers and RCPCH staff on all aspects of media relations
  • To manage the RCPCH press office and be the first point of contact for all media enquiries to the RCPCH
  • To lead, develop and implement media and campaigns plans for the range of College projects and initiatives
  • To develop and maintain strong relationships with RCPCH members to build the profile of the College externally and manage its reputation
  • To deputise for the Head of Media & External Affairs in their absence on all matters relating to media handling

Skills:

  • Ability to absorb new and complex information quickly and communicate it effectively through the mass media
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Comfortable dealing confidently with a wide range of people, including those at a senior level
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to make sound judgements under pressure
  • Good IT skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook/Email

Experience:

  • Experience of liaising with the press, parliamentarians, members of the public and agencies
  • Experience or an understanding of the NHS and its structure, and the wider political environment in a four-nation context
