ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

At the International Supply Centre (ISC) we are the proud custodians of many of Diageo's world famous brands; we have over 4,000 employees across 61 sites, 56 packaging lines and producing 26bn drinks annually. We produce 11 out of our 13 global brands (as well as many others).

St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin is Diageo's largest manufacturing facility in Ireland, and the largest stout brewery in the world, producing over two million pints of Guinness every day, 70 per cent of which are exported. It is a modern brewery dedicated to the production of world class quality beers, Guinness being the most famous. In late 2014 Diageo completed a €169 million investment creating a world class brewing centre of excellence at St. James's Gate, which has increased the competitiveness of beer exports through our end-to-end global supply chain network. St. James's Gate is also home to the Guinness Storehouse, Ireland's number one paid visitor attraction, with nearly 1.5 million visitors in 2015. Can you think of a better location to work at?

The role is positioned in the ISC Engineering team providing Capital Project Management (CapEx) services to Diageo production sites on the Island of Ireland (IoI). The overall purpose of the IoI CapEx team is to deliver the investment plan (Annual Operating Plan - AOP) for asset investments on a year on year basis.

The role includes:

  • Use of specialist knowledge to deliver capex projects to correct technical specification.
  • Managing efficient spend for capex projects.
  • Co-ordinating and managing external resources.

The role holder will lead a cross-functional CapEx Team to deliver a multi-year, multi-million euro strategic investment projects at St James Gate.

The purpose of the role is to lead Capex element of the strategic investment and to effectively collaborate with other elements of the organisation to deliver the best outcome for Diageo.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management:

Deliver the scope safely, on time, within cost to the expected quality, while managing risk and resolving issues.

Technical Resource:

Use specialist and engineering knowledge, self, internal team, ISC Engineering and consultants to provide technical specifications and costs for capex projects.

Supplier / Contractor Management:

The role will be able to leverage their own experience and capability to effectively run multiple contracts with project OEM's and contractors to ensure the project delivers as expected. Support for same will be provided by a support resource assigned to the project by Diageo Procurement.

Compliance:

Ensure compliance with appropriate Health, Safety and Environmental standards, Diageo Code of Conduct, Legal & Regulatory Standards as they apply to the delivery of capital investments.

Central Technical Support will be assigned by Diageo ISC Engineering for specific functional areas.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Strong Health & Safety experience and/or relevant qualification i.e. NEBOSH.
  • Good at networking to establish excellent relationships, effective influencer, with excellent communication skills.
  • Professional Engineer who has developed within their area of expertise by attaining qualifications and / or specialist skills.
  • Considerable experience and professional development in areas such as project management is required.
  • APM (Professional) Qualification is required either at entry or to be acquired within a limited timeframe.
  • Creating and contributing to a positive working environment which brings people together, focuses on collaboration and celebrates a diverse working environment.
  • Finisher/Completer skills to fully complete tasks and attend to critical details.
