The GSK Procurement function is tasked with ensuring that the business obtains value-for-money services, products and solutions to facilitate GSK's business model and vision of delivering market-leading medicines to patients all over the world. The Global Procurement team is comprised of over 700 colleagues (in over 65 countries) who are collectively responsible for managing over £11Billion in spend across a substantial breadth of spend categories.
Site Procurement Specialist (Barnard Castle Manufacturing Site)
The Site Procurement Specialist (based at the GSK Barnard Castle Manufacturing Site) is a new role that has been created that will be responsible for a wide-range of procurement activities across multiple GSK manufacturing sites (for Pharmaceutical, Vaccines and Consumer manufacturing) The team covers Direct and Indirect spend (Total value circa £120M to £130M), and focuses on the creation and execution of Procurement strategies by creating strong relationships with stakeholders at different levels within (and above) the Sites that they will be supporting.
As Site Procurement Specialist (SPS) you will partner with the local site teams in order to drive and support across all the dimensions of Procurement delivery. At a strategic level, you will support the alignment with the Site Leadership Team (ensuring that site business needs and priorities are well understood and supported by the Global Category Procurement teams) as well as contribute to the strategic management of key suppliers
From a day-to-day perspective, you will support the local Procurement team in the operational management of activities, implementation of sourcing strategies and other global projects. You will be involved (and may lead) the development of long and short-term plans to improve Procurement processes in order to enhance the overall performance of the Site.
The role is high-profile, as it works with stake-holders enterprise-wide (including at Director-level) to understand specifications and business requirements to ensure that GSK effectively leverages its scale. In delivering your role you will create best-in-class partnerships with key suppliers and deliver quality end-user and infrastructure services in a cost-conscious manner.
This role would suit a driven and motivated individual who has strong experience of working in a complex procurement management environment. You will have demonstrable skill / ability in managing sophisticated commercial procurement strategies that align with the business's needs. This includes having a strong understanding of business and financial analysis. The ability to communicate with senior stakeholders (eg Directors, Finance Managers, etc) is considered important. You will have excellent people skills, and a proven ability to drive performance. It is imperative in this role that you drive common-objective thinking, with a complete focus on providing solutions. You will need to be persuasive, have a strong continuous improvement mindset, and have proven experience dealing with diverse stakeholder groups.

- CIPS or working towards this qualification
- Strong Procurement experience (particularly indirect and capital)
